I just wanted to provide an update on our Corgi, Winnie. All of my previous discussions have been how troublesome she was. Now, she is 1 year 8 months old, and starting around 10 months of age, she had a dramatic 360 degree transformation. Prior to that, she was bossy, nonstop full of energy, constantly barking, nipping, getting into trouble such that I was unable to sit down on my couch when she was out of her pen. Suddenly, around 10 months old, she suddenly became much less rambunctious and troublesome. Yes, she is still very active, can be bossy, barks when she wants you to play with her, and can still be naughty when I take her out alone for walks. However, when she is inside the house, she can be quite a darling now. She often lies next to me when I sit on the sofa, and she will want to be with me wherever I am. We got a Maltese puppy 6 months ago, and they are now actually getting along quite well! They like to chase each other around the house, rough play, and they keep each other company. My Maltese, Nemo, is 6 lbs (versus Winnie who's 23 lb), but he is quite an energetic and fearless little one. I used to be afraid that he would need protection against the Corgi, who's so robust and ungraceful. But in fact, I think Nemo's more alpha than Winnie is! He loves playing with whatever toys are Winnie's, and when Winnie tries to get them back, Nemo growls at her...small dog syndrome! So unlike my first Maltese - who was so calm, loving, obedient...just the perfect lapdog! One thing Nemo loves to do is like the insides of Winnie's large ears...he can go at it for 10 minutes, and Winnie seems to enjoy it like she's getting a spa! That behavior makes me feel like Nemo's being submissive, but otherwise, he acts like a rambunctious, fearless little warrior! Of the two of them, Nemo is fearless and his bark will scare away any stranger, whereas Winnie is silent when there's anything remotely strange or scary going on. (She's afraid of bubble wrap and carrots!)  Winnie definitely gets jealous sometimes and snuggles herself next to me...it's like sibling rivalry...fighting for mommy's attention! Now, I am starting to finally realize why there are so many Corgi-lovers out there. They can be really adoring and lovable when they're not busy making themselves heard or getting into trouble! Attached are a few pics of them lying together after they've tired themselves out chasing each other.
