So, I was going to get Freya spayed when the strange behavior started to occur in our household the day before her 6 month birthday. Our Weim started to act odd towards the boyfriend--especially if Freya and I are in the room. The Weim would be normal if we weren't in the room.

I called my vet and told him everything that was going on in the behavioral sense. Told him that Freya has actually started to kind of clean her girlie bits (she never had), she was mopey and didn't want to eat but her energy levels were the same--so I wasn't terribly worried. He suggested that she had gone into heat or had a UTI. UTI was ruled with a sample I took to the vet.

Cloud is still acting odd towards boyfriend. He's fine with me. He is also has been sniffing everything in the house after the little girl is put up. Once we suspected her being in heat, we began to keep them separated. He is almost two years old and hasn't really been exposed to an unspayed female before--so it has been interesting.

I haven't actually seen any spotting but our carpet is an ugly brown (not by my choice) so if she is I won't be able to see it there. I've checked her and haven't seen any swelling of her vulva but it is brown/red color around it--which can't be the dirt I once suspected as she doesn't get to roll in the dirt as much as she used to. I suspect she is going through a silent heat? I've read a little bit on that.

The vet suggested spaying her despite being in heat, but I don't want to take that risk. I also don't want to pay extra to do it while she is in heat. Being in heat is the only thing we can think of is going on that is screwing with our dogs. Any suggestions? Oh I am going to spay her, in fact I was going to spay the first week of May but suspected estrus has occurred--pushed it off for now.
