Puppies do sleep a lot...especially when they are transitioning to a new environment. A lot of puppies deal with the stress of being bombarded by so many new experiences by sleeping. He'll perk up more when he's more acclimated to his new home, but he'll still probably sleep for a majority of the time. The first couple weeks we brought Jasper home it seems like he was never awake for more than an hour before it was time for another puppy nap and now at 12 weeks old he still loves his naps! :)
Hi and congrats on your new pup. Casey slept alot also. He loved his crate and still does when he wants to rest. Just take alot of pictures while he sleeps. They are the best. Good Luck even though you won't need it.
Yup. Puppies sleep like crazy. Like Madonna Gems said, take lots of pictures. When they grow up, they won't sleep like puppies do. There are some body postures only puppies do while they sleep as well. You will appreciate it when your pup's older. :)
I got Bertie at about 9 weeks, and the second day we went to our "new puppy check up," which he slept through (we'd been playing beforehand). And I was living in Manhattan, and been expressly told not to let him walk around outside until he had all of his shots, because there were too many unimmunized dogs pooping everywhere, so I wheeled him there in my little grocery cart on top of a pile of blankets. He didn't even wake up when they gave him whatever shots he was due! Talk about sleepy. On the way home, someone asked me where I shopped, because they wanted to get a puppy just like him, hahahaha.
