Last Saturday morning we noticed our Ein was not putting weight on one of his back legs. As the day progressed he became more lethargic and wouldn't even get up to walk around. We took him to the vet and they said it was a pulled tendon and gave us some pain medication for him. His condition has slowly improved - now he seems like himself and is putting a little weight back on his leg, but I was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions on ways I could help the healing process or at least make him feel better.

Ice pack to reduce swelling, maybe?

Does he like to swim? It is non weight bearing. My sister took one of her dogs swimming daily as therapy after hip surgery. He made an amazing recovery. I have seen clips of water physical therapy for dogs as well. I don't know how available it is though.

Sara, Turmeric, the spice has anti-inflammatory activity and other beneficial activities.  You might get some and sprinkle a little on his meals.  I have also heard that apple cider vinegar is good for about everything so you might 1 teaspoon in one of his meals per day.

We had a similar problem when Linus was about 1. We carried him up and down the stairs and on and off the furniture and only walked him on the leash for about 2 weeks. The vet gave him Rimadyl and it was very effective for him.
