Hello!

We've had our corgi puppy for about two weeks now, and just today I was hugging him to close to my face before I realized that my puppy's ears stink! Do any of you have this problem? And if so, what type of ear wash or methods do you recommend?

Thanks!

If I were you I would try and have a little look in the ear, if you can see any kind of discharge or fluid in there, I would take him to the Vet and get them to have a little look.
I would take him to the vet. Stinky ears could be an infection. Trunks has gross discharge in his ears, but they are never stinky. I would definitely take him to the vet first, before trying any at home methods. I use ear wipes for my dogs, or just a kleenex if there isn't anything near. Just wipe out inside the outer part of his ear. Just like a human, you don't want to dig too deep you could injure his ear.
winstons ears stink, smell a little sour but not very strong, only if i'm like, trying to smell them. i did ask his vet about it once and he checked out his ears and said he doesn't have ear mites or anything. i just occasionally use a cotton ball and wipe out the inside of winstons ears to get any extra ear wax. hope that helps!
Could be ear mites or an ear infection, or just dirty ears. Try and clean them, like someone said you can use wipes, or they have solutions you can put in their ears (which I was never really comfortable with). If, after they're clean, they still smell, take him in to see a vet because it's probably an infection, and definitely not something you want to deal with once it gets really bad. Good luck!
Thanks for all the replies! I'm planning on taking him to the vet soon! I heard that since their ears are so big, they're more prone to infection. Also...I heard that taking them out for walks when it's raining outside isn't such a good idea because of their ears being infected. Is this true?
First things first. Using a small gauze pad wrapped around your pinkie, take some plain alcohol and putting some on the pad, run your pinkie finger inside his ears. You can feel how far down to go. That's the advantage of a gauze pad and pinkie. Once you clean them out, they should be fine. If in a couple of days, the smell returns, have your vet check them just for safety sake. It's not uncommon for puppies to have mites or yeast. Mites will come out on the pad as what looks like black dirt. Yeast is very repetitive. No biggie, just something to be aware of. All will be well.
Actually corgi ears are much less prone to infection because they allow lots of air to circulate. Drop eared dogs seem to suffer the worse. Certainly looking in them may help you if you can see any discharge. I promise you if they stink there is an infection. Healthy ears do not smell.
