Because its busy season for my type of work. I've been working in the office full time lately and because its a new job I've been slowly working up to getting the dogs in the office with me. I usually work most of my time at home so they're used to either 1. being office dogs or 2. having someone home with them. Its just always how its been.

I was wondering since I'll be at this for another month or so.. does anyone know if its nicer for your pups to have the TV on while your gone? I know Roxi watches TV and Charlie likes to have noise but Im unsure if they'd care while we're gone during the day.

Any behavior changes or anything that's made you believe your dogs like it more with the TV on? I've heard people leaving animal planet on during the day but didn't know if it did anything.

I think my dogs would find the TV disturbing. Bertie barks at animals on the TV and gets very restless if people are fighting on-screen, and without me around to either turn it off or calm him down, I think he'd be a basket case at the end of the day. Honestly, when I'm gone, I think they just go into a kind of suspended animation, just waiting for me to come home, so I don't worry about having anything "on" to keep them company -- plus Bertie and Ethel have each other, too, and neither show any anxiety-related behavior when left on their own individually or as a pair.
hmm I guess it depends on how your dogs behave towards the tv while your home in the first place.
That is too funny! You should put up an iStream cam to see if they actually watch it all day!

Ever since she was a pup I've caught Roxi watching the TV with us. I guess 'kids' will always be 'kids' lol.
Are they used to the TV always being on? Mine are. Turning it off makes everything unusually quiet. My old guy gets a bit distraught if he realizes he's home alone. But if they're used to the quiet, then quiet is probably what they're comfortable with.

Last time I boarded them, they had a TV in their kennel. I think they had a nicer room than I did.
That's very true! I never thought of that actually. They're used to music and noise all the time when we're home (I hate quiet unless we go out into the country/hiking/camping...) so that's a very good thought.
If I'm going to be gone for a long period of time, I usually leave music on for my puppy.

I live in an apartment setting with some other young adults, so I have to be conscious of the noise. Jackson is usually good, but sometimes I get reports that he is a barking, misbehaving monster.

What can you do? lol
