We recently visited the dog park but unfortunately we had to leave early. When any dog gets behind Molly and tries to sniff, she really gets scared. Her reaction is to turn around, show teeth, and goes after them. It doesn't matter how big the dog is, she still goes after him.

When dogs her own size do the same thing, she's doesn't react that way. She just lets them smell and she smells back.

I know she does it because she's scared but how can we handle this?

Any suggestions????

My almost 3 year old corgi Lola does something similar. She is easily intimidated by big dogs. When a dog is sniffing her behind, she will almost always whip around the see who it is, and sometimes bark at the dog loudly in a ferocious looking way to tell the dog to BACK OFF.

Sometimes she'll let a dog sniff WAY longer than I would've expected, and sometimes when she's had enough she will bark and go at the dog to chase it away. I think it has a lot to do with the herding instinct.. they love to herd dogs they dont like AWAY lol!

Lola will also do this to dogs who approach me too crazily at the park, or dogs that jump up on me. Personal space is a BIG thing for corgis.... Lola needs her space and lets everyone know about it!!
