Vacation/Getaway ideas (East Coast)

So I have been burning the midnight oil lately at work and feeling the need to getaway for a little R&R. I have a work trip to London coming up and would have staying Europe but a week is the most I can take away from my furbaby boy. I live in Northern VA and wanted to go somewhere I can take him with me. I don't mind if it is cold as he loves it and I have learned to bundle! Anyone have any experience or suggestions for somewhere in driving distance that is really dog friendly and relaxing?

have you been to SC? down town SC is very pretty and super dog friendly. when i lived there i always seen corgis in the dog park next to the water. everyone is very friendly and right now it is very nice out. last year at this time it was in the 50s
