What to do?
We have two Corgi's, both 9 weeks old. We have one for about two weeks and the other for a week. They are doing really good in their crate at night. I get up once in the middle usually around 3am and let them out even if they don't wake me. One night, we didn't put them in their for bed until about 1am and they went to 6:45 before waking up to go potty. So they are doing really well with crate training at night.
Our ultimate goal with them is have them either sleeping with us or beside us on dog bed's in our room. We really want them to be inside with us in the evenings.
The problem:
We didn't think my husband would be finding a job for awhile and would have plenty of time to be home with them during the day. Well, surprisingly he has found a job and will be starting next week. We will both be too far away to let them out during the middle of the day so if we leave them in their crate it would be from 7:30 to 3:30 - WAY to long... I just can't and won't do that. So, I can have someone come to our house and let them out of their crates around 11:00 and stay for 30 minutes while they go potty outside and play for a while in the back yard and then go back into their crate until my husband gets home. I just think that seems cruel especialy now that they still aren't completely potty trained and has to be in their crate all night while we are sleeping.
Our other option is we do have a back yard but think it's just too big for them right now so we have discussed putting up a smaller dog fencing and leave them in that until we get home and then bring them inside when we get home. That way, they can releave themselves when they need to and then be together to play with each other until we get home. Our only worry with that, is will that confuse them when it does come time to come in and be inside with us?
Does any one have any tips on how to handle this - any advice will be helpful !!!

Are there any doggy daycares in your area? We had a couple of days when Cha Yen was not fully potty trained but we couldn't leave her crated all day either so we took her to a doggy daycare and they had a separate area for the puppies to play in. Most places I've seen are open as early as 7AM and close around 7PM. The people at the daycare actually helped us potty train her as well and she loved playing with the other puppies. Hope that helps :)

I would be nervous leaving them outside like that unsupervised. Can you creat a slightly larger pen area indoors, and maybe train them to pee pads until they have a little more control? That's what I did for my pup -- I put the pads on the bathroom floor, and he had the bathrrom and short hallway (wood floor). I used his opened crate as a gate at one end, and left a nice bowl of water and some (safe) toys. He only used the pee pads for about a month or 6 weeks, then was able to go outside when the dogwalker came and again when I came home -- no problems.

Your first plan sounds a lot better, having someone coming in for half an hour, let them out, they will adapt to that schedule better. It is not a good idea to leave them outside in a fenced area unsupervise, many things can happen, it is important to teach young pups your schedule and teach them to hold. It is going to take you 9 mos - 1 year to fully potty trained with no relaspe. So be patient, you'll get there in no time :) Hope you find more tips in this article
