Are you puppies wild after they have been crated? Gracie is such a wild thing! She gets periods of being subdued and then being calm. I am sure it is just a puppy thing. I forgot what puppies are like. I was wondering if this was a Corgi thing. She has a mind of her own sometimes. We're taking her to puppy classes. She is learning some basic commands - sit, stay, leave it. But then she becomes a wild Ban gee at night and will be jumping all over us. I think she is just trying to get attention and likes to be fussed at. She is very talkative too! :) One of the instructors in the class said that Corgis are strong-willed dogs. I believe it! We just love that wiggle-butt but there are sometimes we just want to scream. We are looking forward to her being a bit more mature! She is like having a kid! We hope to get her into agility of sheep herding. We might have to just put ourselves into a ring with us wearing rubber pants!

Hello!

My corgi, Stella, turns 12 weeks old tomorrow. Every day she gets bolder and more "crazy-puppy"! She has times when she's super sleepy and calm and then totally wriggling, biting, yapping, running in circles, out of control! I think that it is a normal puppy thing AND that corgi's have pretty strong personalities--I've heard and read about that, too. But the really good thing about corgis is that they're really smart, too--so mixed in with Stella's crazy puppy times she also shows that she's learning. She's just not consistent because of her age. Oh, and with barking, although her barking is increasing, she's been pretty good when I ignore her. She usually moves on to chew one of her toys or a bone. How has Gracie responded to you ignoring her? Does she still bark like crazy? I've had terrier puppies before, so Stella isn't nearly as talkative as I have experienced in the past!
Hi Nicole and Stella! Gracie does seem to back off if I ignore her. I think everything is a game to her. She is determined to jump on the sofa. She jumped up there last night and tried to come up to me while I was reading and get in my face. When I totally ignored her, she got on the end of the sofa and finally jumped off. She kind of sulked for a little while. She was soon to be playing again! Stella is so cute! HOw much does she way now?
Yeah it is a Corgi thing. As they say a tired corgi is a good corgi. Sunday Sami was a wild beast, she had slept most of Saturday after getting her rabies shot and having blood taken. So Sunday she was making up for it. We ran the water in the back yard to water the butterfly bushes, she loves to play in the mud (see video Frapping good mud bath) then we filled her little swimming pool and let her go. How ever there are times we can't do that to burn off her energy so to teach her manners after playing with her if she is still wound up to beat the band and won't settle down she gets a time out. couple three minutes in her room and she tends to settle right down. Yes corgis are strong willed dogs, I saw some where, where the less docile a dog the harder it is to train but once they got it, they got it. Just takes more time and patience because they are thinkers and will think for themselves. Sami expects us to conform to her way not the other way around. But I know once she is trained and older she is going to be an exceptional adult corgi as she is already and exceptional corgi pup. Good luck.
Those silly Corgis! :) We bought a bigger baby pool this weekend where we can get in it with her. She was a little scared of it. I told hubby we need to get her out and exercise a lot more since we are working. She has so much energy! :) We take her on Saturday for her last shots. I'm hoping after that we can get her to the park. We have some good parks around. She needs exercise!
