Hi everybody, my name is Mary and Andi is the precious corgi. I am new here to the site and the group. What kind of food would you prefer to feed a corgi in agility training?

My guys just started agility, in their second month of training, and we love it! My Corgis are the top of their class, I was honestly surprised how awesome these little guys are at it. I though it would just be a fun activity for us and our dogs, but after seeing how much they love it and how good they are, I can't wait to compete!

Just to add a little more:
There are other agility venues rather than just AKC (where, yes, your dog does need to be registered, or get their ILP number...check out AKC.org for more rules/regulations). There is CPE (Canine Performance Events--www.k9cpe.org), NADAC (North American Dog Agility Council--www.nadac.com), USDAA (United States Dog Agility Association--www.usdaa.com), and TCDAA (Tea Cup Dogs Agility Association--www.k9tdaa.com)

Welcome to our new members of the Agility Corgis group!!
As a few points of reference, might I suggest checking out CleanRun.com and other agility Corgi sites like Yahoo! Groups "Performance Corgis" (I am a member, as well as many very awesome handlers like Jane Glier, owner/handler of the FIRST Pembroke Corgi with a MACH). They have a lot of great tips and CleanRun.com has equipment, books, and a magazine that's always chock full of tips and tricks. I definitely recommend checking them out.

in order to compete in AKC trials she does in fact need to be AKC registered. To compete in other events such as UKC she does need to be registered through their website, whether or not she has papers. It's around $30 to register. Even though she's young now would be the time to start basic obedience/puppy classes with her!

I'm very interested in agility training for my corgi, it would be a great way to exercise both her mind and her body, and I think it'd be something she'll really love. However, I don't really know much about agility competitions. Right now my corgi is a bit young for competitions anyway (four months) but I was just wondering if corgis that compete need to be AKC or CKC registered because my girl isn't.

Hi All...I'm new to mycorgi.com. I'm just getting started with training my guy in obedience for competition (rally and then obedience). After that, I'd like to work my way into the agilty ring, so I thought I'd join this group because I love agility....and thought I could learn some things along the way...

I live in southern illinois and I work in Streator. I found a very small place called Piece of Cake agility...$80 for 7 weeks. Wednesdays at 7.

Where do they offer classes? I live in the Chicagoland area

Krystal, I would recommend taking in any and all training information and soaking it up like a sponge. After a while, you'll be able to decide which will work best for you and your Corgi. Enjoy your classes and take your time with training. Pembrokes are very smart dogs and after a while you don't need to constantly repeat things. Be sure to keep Cooper very interested in training by switching up treats, toys, etc.
