I'm not sure what I did. I thought I was starting a discussion. Even though I've been a member for some time, I generally just read people's comments & occasionally comment. What should I have done to start a new topic? (within the corgis who camp group or any group for that matter.). I am probably semi-computer illiterate. Thanks for your help.

Hi Claire, thanks for writing again.  In the computer literacy department, I'm not anything other than a user and whiner.  If it doesn't work, I whine a lot.  Perhaps someone else can answer that.

Regarding your question I did give you a small novelette version and I'm sure others here can also give wonderful advice regarding corgis and RVing.  Timmy loves all of the adventures and makes new friends everywhere.

Hi Claire,

I would first note that 1. our corgi nubs LOVE to camp, and that 2. it should be very doable for you as long as you choose your spot correctly. Here's my advice:

-look and see what kind of facilities the campground has (flush toilets? showers? walking trails?) and sort what's most important to your comfort.

-rent a trailer (or have you considered a cabin?) that will require little set-up. (If you're alone, with two corgis, you don't want to have to do too much to get it ready when you arrive).  Or sometimes campgrounds have rental trailers that are already there when you arrive.

-Check out the State parks. where we live (Missouri) they often have both great facilities and great scenery.  (and are cheap).  Private campgrounds might (or might not) have fancier facilities, but they rarely have trails or woods, or other things that you can enjoy with your furkids.

-Think about how you're going to keep your corginubs corralled- most campsites (every one that I have ever stayed at) has a "leash law" for dogs outside of campers.  It will be inconvenient to keep them leashed while they are outside, so you'll need an exerpen or a couple of tie- outs (which always get tangled.)  In my family, our newest innovation is to string a clothes line across the campsite and click the retractable leashes to it while we're outside. Then they have freedom, but you don't spend your whole weekend untangling leads.

-Finally, I would advise a short trip the first time so that you can see how it goes. Maybe even just one night.  Then you can get fancier later......

Great info for a newbie to camping :).Restrictions are so different from state to state I would just add to check all that out.Here in Ca a lot of beaches,campgrounds,have become banned to pets.Have a wonderful time!!We love camping and travelling.Getting ready to go back out in a couple of weekends.

Figured it out!  When you go to the main (home) page for Corgis who Camp, there is a discussion box.  At the bottom of that box,  (where you see my original request looking for you) is a "add discussion" link.  Click there and then type in a subject matter and type away.

The lower box is for comments.
