When I'm out walking Dewey, people often stop me and ask if he is a corgi mix. I'm guessing it's because they tend to think that purebred corgis are always red and white. I hate to sound like a snob and say, "No, he's a purebreed", but that's what I do! Personally, I love the touches of black, especially the masking on his face. My husband thinks his face looks almost like a German shepherd!

Harley is so cute! I went to your page and see that you live in Richmond. My brother is a pediatrician there - I believe on Midlothian (?) Parkway. Anyway, yes - my husband thinks that the black on Dewey's face makes him look like a German shepherd. That's a good thing in my case, because my husband grew up with German shepherds and loved them.
omg yes or they think he is a Dachshund mix. it does not help that he is a little smaller than your average corgi. got a tri-color because I wanted to be different from the common corgi owner and I think tri's are just better looking than reds do not get me wrong both beautiful dogs i personally just prefer tri's.
We take walks in lots of parks and we get the same thing. "What kind of corgi mix is that?" I tell them Pembroke. I don't mind and he love the attention.
Tonight when walking all three corgi's a lady stopped and said I was just reading about corgi's! and what is the black one! (Referring to Razzo my pup) Hahaha! I explained he is a tri color just a variation on color still a Corgi! First time experiencing tri bias I don't know what to call it ! But I am gonna educate you on the spot!
