Ya know, no matter what my day has been, looking at people's corgis and their pictures always cheers me up. I love these dogs (we've got 5 across our family now). The first one was OneUP a Cardigan brindle who spent her life on a blueberry farm checking up on everybody and making sure that horse stayed on his side of the fence (1978-1996). -- Jeff
How big a heart you have. Sally looks wonderful and indeed it would have been so sad for her to be passed around to another home. To probably misquote the Beatles, "the love you give is equal to the love you get." You deserve lots of hugs and corgis kisses.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments. I do get lots of Corgi hugs and kisses now with the 3 of them and Coco too. We can't forget Coco, she is as sweet as the Corgis and a very loyal friend. Jessica
So sorry. I did forget about Coco. I trust she will allow this lapse on my part without any hard feelings, haha. Hugs and kisses to you Coco. It takes a strong girl to hang in with a Corgi gang! xoxo W, J, L, R
Please please if you have facebook take a minute and vote for Frank on each of the following links. Several contestants have begun to cheat and pay for votes and one of the dogs is even an international model! I am having to pull out all the stops here to stay in the top 5 while still playing fair You can vote twice (once on each link) and the combined votes are how they choose the top 5. Frank is currently #3 and there's only 2 days to go!
Hi all. I currently have 2 tri-colored corgi's. Farina the youngest one and Rubie who will be 12 years old in August. It's strange but my Farina and Rubie who are 9 years apart in age were born on the very same day, August 18th... Farina is more of a red headed tri while Rubie is mostly black. My other handsome corgi is Yogi who next month will be 13 years old.
Hi all! Our one and only tri-color is Jazzy. We rescued her from a puppy mill in Missouri. She is still very shy and nervous after 2 years with us. We're looking for corgis in the Metro-Detroit are for play dates. Anyone interested?
Hi I am new to the corgi world. I will be bringing home my girl on June 8th. I would like to see what everyone thinks of her color she is 4 weeks old in this profile picture. Would like to see if you think she will be a black or red head. Thank you for your time. Her name is Nevaeh Rose :)
My pup is now 4 weeks and 3 days old! The breeder says she will be a black headed tri, but the more I stare at these recent pictures the more I convince myself that a lot of red is coming in... Any thoughts? I know she is still young, but I'm just curious :)
Congrats, you got a nice dog there. Weather she is red or black headed tri, it really depends on the color of her inner ear. If her inner ear is red, she will be red headed tri. If her inner ear is black, then she will be black headed tri. Hopefully, You can find the following website to be helpful. http://users.amerion.com/emrys/Colors_BHT.htm
Thank you Joey! I get to meet her after her first set of shots, so in about 2 weeks, I will try and peek at her ears for color then. So I would still be able to tell with her being so young?
My girl had a black head when she was a baby and she is a red head now. There are baby pictures of her on my page if you want to look. Either way, your baby is beautiful!! Congrats. I love puppies, how exciting!!! ♥
IMHO, that's going to be a black headed tri and not much tri at that. However, if you look at my pictures of Arthur (a red headed tri I had) he's markings did become more extensive as he grew olders.
When people see my little tri colored corgi Darby they ask me if he is a husky and when I tell them they are like I have never seen a tri colored corgi or even heard of the breed.
......I have had more than one person ask me if my tri is a beagle mix :o)
My little girl Tilly weighs 25 lbs now at almost 7 months. Does anybody know how much more weight they usually gain. People keep asking me, but I don't know the answer. The truth will come out in the pudding as the saying goes, but maybe a rough idea would help me out. She was the first born, so i would expect her to get heavier.
Tilly should weight between 22-24 lbs as an adult. You definitely want to exercise her more! They don't gain a ton of weight when they grow up. How much do you feed Tilly?
If she's that heavy at that age something is wrong. Willow is correct but also one should ask; what are you feeding her? There should be NO people food. NONE! I knew a family who just couldn't resist giving their puppy table 'treats' and they had a 50lb corgi before they knew it! Please don't kill your corgi.
I have to say that my boy at 5 is not overweight even though he weighed in at 39.6 the last time I took him to the vet. I asked them about that and their comment was that he is fit. I don't give him table food and control what I feed him on a daily basis. The one thing I do know is that he loves to eat celery and has taught my Shih tzu to eat it and ice as well. But I clearly know that his weight is in proportion to his size.
Jet is only 16 lbs full-grown, 14 months, but she came from a breeder who was purposefully breeding them small. I agree many corgis get far too fat - incline to the barrel shape - but if you and the vet think she seems fit and not fat then you should be good:) Jet does not get table scraps, though I do feed her apple & carrot bits, as well as frozen cubes (think ice cube tray) of non-fat yogurt (her "doggy ice cream").
