About My Corgi(s):
We lost our Corgi (Emmy) on October 12, 2007 to a rare Wild Animal Bacteria carried by infective Skunks and a few other animals. Emmy was only 7 years old when we lost her. She was loved by everyone, especially the kids, we always knew where she was when there were any kids around. She especially loved to play with anyone in the water.

We have been looking for another Corgi since.

I am so sorry to hear about Emmy. We lost my 12 yr old Dalmation, Hailey, a few months ago to Liver failure. We weren't going to get another dog but fell in love with a Corgi cross rescue and then found our Corgi puppy. It took us time to find them but it was worth it. Good luck finding your new Corgi..
  • Kriste

Sorry to hear about your Corgi.

    Hi George,

That is absolutely terrible. We got Scout from a breeder in Kansas City. I didnt realize this at the time, but we actually got really lucky because I found our breeder's ad online. He is just a small time breeder that breeds his dogs...once a year? Not entirely sure. His dogs are all breed on a farm with three rambunctious boys so when we got scout, he will basically follow children around and try to play with them. he as reds to tris and is very affable. so far, scout does not have any health problems and is a healthy happy 5 month old. If you are still looking, I can refer him to you. I dont know when he is breeding his corgis again but if you would like his email and phone number comment back and I will message his information to you.

I'm so sorry to hear about Emmy. It's a good thing you have a lot of pictures to remember her.
  • mikonami

I'm sorry about your loss. I know how it feels... =(

I don't know any breeders, but have you looked at Corgi rescue? Just search for it and they usually have some that need homes.
  • Chester

So sorry to hear about your Emmy. I do hope you find another special Corgi.
  • Rayanne

How awful. I know it is painful to lose her so young. I found both my pups on puppyfind.com. You can do a location search to find breeders close to you. Petfinder can locate rescues for you, or the Pembroke Welsh Cori Society.
  • Elys

Sorry to hear about your loss. I hope that you find another corgi soon. We were looking for an adult corgi and on a whim, I suggested putting an ad on craigslist.com. That's how we found Camber.
  • Gwen Cox

So sorry to hear about your Emmy. I have two, Winnie and Bear, who are approaching doggie old age and I am thankful for everyday with them.

I hope you find another Corgi soon

  • Nancy & Owen

I'm very sorry to hear about Emmy. She sounded like she had a full and happy life though :)
  • Donna J. Williams

I'm sorry to hear about Emmy. I recently lost my boy Oliver - very suddenly - can you tell me a little about Emmy's last days? I really don't know for sure what happened to Oliver, so I'd be interested to know more about this.
  • Robin

I am so sorry to hear about Emmy. She was a beautiful girl and far too young. I know of a litter being planned by a very reputable breeder this summer. Also there lots of corgis who need a second chance through rescue. If I can help, let me know.

    Did Emmy swim?
  • Vivian

Thanks for adding me to your friends list. Sorry to hear about Emmy.
  • Nancy

Thats too bad. Are you planning on getting another? We would be devisated if something happened to our corgis. They run in a 3 acre fenced in area surrounded by our yard and 20 acres behind it. I am always weary of something getting through the fence. I bring them in at dusk. In the past we have had run ins with porcupines and skunks. What a mess and costly vet bills.
  • Terry Ramsbotham

I amso sorry for your loss...I know it is painful but somewhere there is someone very special waiting for you to coe and get them! Please let us know when that day comes!
  • Bronwyn

hi George, sorry to hear about your corgi. Hope you'll be able to find another one soon. They are so great to be with.
  • Ashley

That's terrible to hear. I've only had Kassie for a little less than a year and I don't know what I'd do in your place. I'm sure you'll find another corgi who you'll love too.
  • Tiffany Lynn Tenhoff

Your corgi is beautiful. I really love his color.
  • Edward Ames

So sorry about the loss of your gorgi. I also lost my corgi of 7 years. I am also looking for another one.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your Corgi. In November of 2007, we also lost our Corgi, Fisher, to a freak intestinal disease. We just got a new Corgi, Daisy, in the spring. At first I was worried that we would compare her to Fisher, as he had just died so soon, but Corgis personalities are so distinct, there was no chance to confuse the two!

    Good luck in your search!
  • Rosa

Aww I'm sorry to read about your loss.
  • Butter

Hi, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Are you planning to get another corgi? Not that another one could replace Emmy but now that I have one, I can't imagine being without one. Bests, Joy
  • Nicola Porter

Hi George ! Thank you for Welcoming us ! I am sorry to hear of your loss. For a small package they sure pack a room full of energy and happiness where ever they go. Emmy looks like she was the princess of the house ! Just like our Ginja! I will keep my ears and eyes open for you. Take care !
  • Willow

Hi George. So sorry to hear about Emmy. I could possibly direct you to the breeder in Ohio that we purchased Willow from...she was a good breeder.
  • Freddie

    George,
My heart breaks for you and your wife, and I know how much you miss her. When the time is right, another will come into your life. It may not be in the way you plan it to be, or may not look like the one you want it to, but he/she will be another one-of-a-kind. I had a Golden Retriever Mix years ago before Freddie, and thought I would never find that "love"... Then there's Fred! We got him from a Corgi Rescue, and he had been in SIX homes! He needed us as much as we needed him.
Your corgi is looking for YOU. How is your other dog doing?
  • Bojana

She was beautiful, like an angel, i am so sorry i cant even imagine how much u suffer now. I own tree dogs and a bunch of other kinds of animals, and i love them all like they are my children. It is terrible that she left so early but u know she was happy and loved while being with u.
  • Kevin

if you have a female corgi join my club
  • Duncan

Stopping by to say hello! Finally starting to feel like summer here in Maine :) Hope that you and your familly are well and wishing you lots o' sunshine

  • Melanie

    Hi George,

It saddens me to read of your losing Emmy. It's especially hard when they go so suddenly. No time to say goodbye or prepare for their being gone.

Daphne, our second corgi loved the water too. She would dive into the swimming pool like a cannon ball and nip at the tennis balls floating around her.

I wish you luck in your search for another family companion.
  • Patches Hall

Hi George, I accept you invite to be friends. My Mom and I always like new friends. Sorry to read about Emmy, but it sounds like you might need to think about another one :).
I know Mom would be looking for another one real soon if she lost me.
  • Patches Hall

From another Corgi site: I saw this guy on petfinder.com and he looks so scared. Maybe someone
in our group "lost" him since he was picked up as a stray? Or maybe
someone nearer wants to save him.

  • Foxie's Mom

I'm so sorry for your loss! But it sounds as if you have many, many good memories!! Foxie is a member of the family now and I know how dearly we would miss her.
Foxie loves kids too, she gets sooo excited when she sees them; and, I've been thinking about getting a wading pool just for her because she loves the water so much, we can't get her out of the tub at bath time...lol
  • Jonalyn

Hi, I think you accidentally emailed the wrong Corgi owner about licking chocolate icecream. I don't have a corgi named Kaley.
    Hope you find her :)
  • Leia (aka Princess Leia)

I think you accidently emailed the wrong person. I'm not Sandra. Hope you find who you are looking for.
  • Sir Wiggles Freeland

Hey George - you are right about the chocolate!! Our dog, Wiggles, ate a box of chocs last Christmas while we were out! Boy was he SICK - but he survived. When we called our vet to report what had happened as we were so worried about him - her comment was "well, if he made it thru the night, it's not your problem any more, it's his" boy was she right about that!!! Chocolate is not for dogs, that is for sure!!! Sorry to hear about your loss of Emily, they are indeed special little dogs - hope you find another one soon.
  • Lisa

I agree about the chocolate! My corgi only eats dog food no human food.
  • Kate

George, I admire you for sending out the email about chocolate! It's great to know something about an issue and try to educate others that may not know about that particular issue. However, a side note on chocolate. Chocolate has different effects on different dogs. It is primarily bakers chocolate that is poisonous for dogs. Other chocolate derivatives (like candy bars and ice cream) are usually not harmful or poisonous. Growing up we had a lab that ate all of my Halloween candy, 6 boxes of Cadbury eggs, and 8 chocolate oranges (all separate incidences) and never even had the runs. Hence, Kali (is that her name?) can probably eat ice cream with no harmful effects. Now, with that said, I do not feed my dogs ANY human food. I agree with you in that too many human foods are bad for our pups.
  • Kitty's Corner

Hi George~that was a good point about chocolate and I personally don't feed it or other people food to Kitty, but, maybe some don't know.So...good job.
  • Justin Nelson

I definitly agree about the chocolate. One of my huskies got into some christmas candy one year and was sick for two days. Poor thing.
  • Jan

hey George it was ok sometimes we are not aware that our messages are going out to everyone...it is always good to reiterate that chocolate is not good for our 4 legged friends....jan
