My husband and I will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2011! Have 2 human kids and 2 fur kids. I now have the four kids I've always wanted. :)
Name: Lance
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi(Blue Merle)
Birthday: October 30, 2005.
Current Age: 8 1/2
RIP 5-3-14
Was an only dog for 5 years, but not anymore! Learning about sharing, I hear sharing is good. :) I have corgi buddies already so hopefully it wont be too hard to share with my brother.
Lance is a pure breed cardigan corgi, at the moment he may appear like he is not because his ears are floppy. Lance is dealing with auto immune issues and vasculitis of the ears which affects the blood flow in his ears.
Name: Tucker
Breed: Red and White Pembroke. Was rescued from the
shelter March 6, 2011
Birthday: October 12, 2007
Current Age: 6
Tucker is a sweetheart, seems quite comfy here. :) So glad to be out of the shelter. I was so sweet the first time I met my potential owners I gave them lots of corgi kisses, I stole their hearts. <3
I tried "roll-over" with Cookie today, for the first time, and she did roll-over, with a treat as her reward! I think this is an easy for Pembroke W Corgi's, since they are low to the ground! Yeah!
Hi, you can get dryer balls; I have them but I find they really bang around in the dryer so don't use them. I personally, just don't use anything. Just dry clothes in the dryer like they did before they invented fabric softener. There might be safer alternatives; I'll check a website that gives safer alternatives and see if they have anything.
Yes, I love amazing grace, too and especially this version. IT was written for the movie, Amazing Grace. Have you seen it; really good.

Fabric Softener
Fabric softeners are designed to reduce static in synthetic fabrics. They serve no purpose with natural fabrics. Fabric softeners may contain quarternary ammonium compounds (quats) and imidazolidinyl, both of which are known formaldehyde releasers. For about 5% of people, quats are an extreme sensitizer. They may cause a variety of asthma-like symptoms, including respiratory arrest. Exposure to formaldehyde can cause joint pain, depression, headaches, chronic fatigue and a variety of other symptoms. In lab tests formaldehyde has caused cancer and damaged DNA. Both quaternium and imidazolidinyl can cause contact dermatitis. Fabric softeners work by leaving a residue on the fabric which never completely washes out. It can cause allergic reactions through skin contact and inhalation. Fabric softeners may also contain carcinogenic coal-tar dyes, ammonia and very strong scents. When fabric softeners are exposed to hot water, heat from dryers or ironing, vapours may be emitted which can be deeply inhaled, increasing their impact.
Less-toxic Alternatives
Dryerballs - Eliminate static cling, soften clothes, reduce drying time. No chemical residue, no plants, no scents. Purchase Dryerballs through EHANS' Dryerball Fundraiser project and support this website. http://www.environmentalhealth.ca/summer07dryerballs.html
Static Eliminators - no chemical residue, no plants, no scents.
Nature Clean - Natural Fabric Softener.
Simply Unscented
Because conventional fabric softeners contain so many harmful chemicals, even if they are free of added scents, they are not a good choice for less-toxic living.
Home-made Alternatives
Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar, baking soda OR borax to the rinse cycle to soften water and reduce static cling.
Laundry discs or balls (reusable) soften water and help reduce static cling.
A ball of aluminum foil in the dryer can reduce static cling without adding chemicals.
You may be able to dramatically reduce your use of fabric softener and still get the desired effect. One person reports she puts a dab of liquid softener on a damp washcloth, places it in her dryer and reuses the same washcloth for many loads without adding more softener. One bottle of softener lasts her years.
Tips
To reduce static in synthetics, run dryer on “air dry” or “no heat” setting when laundry is almost dry, then hang clothes up until completely dry. This will also reduce the need for ironing.
Yeah,I was just reading the below...I do that too... for synthetic clothes, I take out of the dryer before dry and let air dry or don't even put in the dryer. Good luck, let me know if you decide to try anything and what you think. Joy :)
We have done the obedience training there with Kristin (the trainer). My sister boards her chocolate lab and my neighbor's take their dogs for daycare a couple of days a week. I cannot say enough good things about it...everyone that works there are "dog" people and go CRAZY when they see a corgi. They are very good with the dogs and keep a close watch, which I think is important. The rooms that the dogs stay in have TV's and beds, as well as their own dog run outside. It is very very nice and clean. Dave and I are going out of town overnight and will board Spencer there without any hesitation!
Thanks. Since coming home yesterday he seems to be doing a little too great. :) I'm having trouble just keeping up since he now has dietary restrictions and he has been trying to get into the cat food and go up and down the stairs to play with the cat like mad. He's really having to get used to the crate now since he's no longer just in it at night.
Yes it is very exciting Aug. cant get here fast enough :o) Wow so many people with Aug. b-days it is crazy! Hope it is a good one for u even though u dont count it LoL
Natalie is gorgeous! Yay for mis-marked Cardi's :) Where did you get her?! She's so beautiful, I was so excited to see your comment and your cute blue merle in the picture!!
Oh no! Don't tell Lance I made that mistake! Lol! Anyway, I do love blue merle- it was one of the reasons why I was so drawn to Cardigans! It took me months to find Regis, and I was so glad that I got him! I do love the mis-marks- who could say our dogs are imperfect?! :D They do almost look related, I wouldn't be surprised if they were! Did you get him from a breeder? I got Regis from Pat Sawtelle- wonderful lady!
awww, Regis is so young, I miss that! Lance is 2 and will be 3 at the end of October! Yes snap a picture of his ears, I bet they are cool looking! Although Lance is still alot of fun and young himself!
He is just a young guy :) Don't you miss the cute days of puppyhood? We got him at 3 months, so we didn't get to see him at the peak of adorableness(in fact he was rather awkward when we got him, lol!!), but I still miss that little thing romping around! Do you have any pictures of Lance as a pup? I'd LOVE to see if you do! I'll snap one of Regis tomorrow and send it through here since I think I can do that.. lol. I'm so new to this!
Right now he is almost 6 months (will be on the 17th) and he weighs about 65-75 pounds.
He will grow to be at least 30 inches at the shoulder and weight somewhere between 89 - 100 pounds. Some borzoi grow to be 120 pounds.
Yes, he is a very calm and laid back dog - not hyper in the least! Which is a godsend. With his size, it would be like a bull in a china shop if he was hyper! lol!
Hello Natalie--Congratulation for the coming anniversary. I always looking for somebody who Gizmo looks alike,Lance is.
We don't know much about Gizmo,I did not even know what kind of dog he is when I first saw him, the family we know, gave him away.Gizmo made me fall in love with corgi.
Lance is so handsome. From his pictures, there are a lot things that Gizmo like to do as him.. stays underneat the chair, loves toy ..
Wow, Lance is beautiful! I love his eyes and coat. Someday in the future (hopefully the near future) I can get a Cardi, too. If (and hopefully when) I get a Cardi, I'd want her to look just like Lance.
Thanks for the welcome! This is the coolest website! I am loving all the corgis! I have lots of pictures of Molly (see my avatar). Tigger is my new rescue- I just got him a week a go and I love him to bits! He and Molly are just starting to warm up to each other.
It is fun! I have to say that they "tolerate" each other. Aragon doesn't care about Ems and Ems is afraid of Aragon. She always has one eyeball one him. She thinks he is a giant corgi that wants to step on her.
Cheryl and I are friends IRL. She and I keep our horses and our horses at the same barn. She is the one that found Molly for me. The corgis are so good around the horses. They stay close, don't wander and don't bother the horses.
Yes, Phog is a Blue Merle. The breeder I bought her from specializes in Blue Merles and what she calls Tuxedos. Lance is so cute, as are the rest of your dogs! How do you keep up with all of the pet hair? I can barely keep Phog brushed enough so that she doesn't shed all over the house.
Hey Natalie! Keep up the hard work. It gets easier! I am finally getting my crew to not haul ass out the door when I open it! 1 small step! PROGRESS! :)
Thank you! The boys are a handful, so different and yet some similarities. I dabble in photography and graphic design. If I was to get another Cardi, I'd probably look for a Merle. The color has grown on me. My fluffy Cardi boy hair/fur is much different than the fluffy Pems I have met. He is light by long coated.
Colleen and da Boys
Hi Natalie,,, I will post more pictures as he get's older. He is only 16 weeks old and very big for his age... I am so glad that I found this site... I can share my love for corgi's on this site that only corgi owners will understand.. Keep well... Ilse
July 19th! How many years have you been married? Thanks for the congrats! We are sort of like "whew, we made it". We got married, both for the 1st time, as a middle aged couple with a 12 year age difference. Yes, I married a younger man, just kidding, haha, he is 12 years older but doesn't really look it. I had no idea that I was imperfect till I got married; it has gotta be him, not me!!! Just kidding.
Hi Natalie,
thanks for responding to my post about Spencer's ears....yes he has been sneezing and scratching his nose on the carpet...maybe it is allergies...he really scared me the other night!
omg, you are a neil diamond fan too???? I didn't get to see him this time, we were in Lake Geneva for our belated anniversary and husband's birthday...happy anniversary!!!!!
our anniversary is June 26th..we have only been married for 4 years though. We got married late in life (40's)..neither had been married before. My husband put his foot down on attending the Diamond concert..once was enough for him (party pooper)
I saw neil diamond last year when he was here. Poor husband sat through Neil and Elton John. I agree that things happen when they are supposed to. When I met Dave it was right around 9/11 and I had just lost my job of 15 years...ironically enough, he was my Tai Chi teacher through the Oak Lawn park district!
Lance is a very handsome man-dog! Blue eyes, and a magnificent tail. Love the merl markings. I wonder if pems and cardi's are similar in temperment and habits?
Thank you for your nice comments. Stay in touch!
That's funny....our male, Jake, hides in the bathroom if we open the basement door. Our female, Addie, stays at the top of the stairs, looking down. Weird little buggers!
LOL...no Elton John was a few months earlier...then he had to "endure" Neil diamond....it was a "test of love" for him! :-)...hope you can make the Corgi picnic on 9/20 in Lemont(?)we are planning on attending. Its on the main page of this site.
Would love to meet you, Lance and your husband!
