I have three teenage kids and I just love being a Mom to a Corgi also! I live in sunny Southern California with the three kids, three dogs, two cats and a most wonderful husband.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Sidney is our first purebred corgi and we are thrilled to have him. He was born 7/11/07. We planned to start him in agility training, but there was a long waiting list. So while waiting for an opening, we took classes for therapy dog training. As it turns out, he's a pretty good therapy dog, so we stuck with that and never got around to agility. Now he is training as a Rally dog. We love it! He's one smart little character! Oh, and he's undocked, so his beautiful tail attracts a lot of attention - good attention.
On August 30th, Sidney suddenly came up lame in his hind left leg. The next day we got xrays for him and found out he has severe hip dysplasia. On Sept 7th he had a Femoral Head Ostectomy to relieve the pain. His right hip is not in great shape either but we're hoping that with glucosamine supplements and exercise we can keep it healthy. *Update* You would never know Sid has surgery now. He moves beautifully. The water therapy and supplements have worked wonders.
Bruce is our corgi/elkhound (?) mix. We rescued him from the brink of euthanasia when he was approximately 10-11 years old (he had a day or two left to go). He's about 16 now and his only sign of his advanced age are bad teeth and slow mornings. I adore Brucie and he worships me. He's my funny short angel with a puffball tail (thanks to the elkhound side). He's about 18 now and going strong.
Chester is our "tall dog". He's a black dane/lab mix that we got from a "free to good home" ad in the local newspaper. He's also old, about 15 years old. We know his age because we've had him 14 years, and he was an adult when we brought him home! He's a very serious dog and not very affectionate compared to the corgis, but he has been a very good dog, just aloof. We can't take Chester as many places as the shorties because he does not travel well. He's almost 17 now and has definitely slowed down. *UPDATE* Chester had a sudden decline and was sent to the bridge on April 15th 2013 at the age of 17.
In February 2013 we added Connie to our family. She's a little tri corgi who was picked up as a stray and put up for adoption at our local Humane Society. She's a real sweet girl and loves to play ball. She's learning a lot from Sidney about life here. We can't believe that her family never came to claim her. She's got good manners and she gets along well with the other dogs and the cats, and everyone she meets is her best friend.
And the pack grows! In November we took in a black-headed tri who we named Copper. He and Connie were both born in 2009 and they are great buddies and a ball-chasing tag team. Copper is sweet and cuddly and eager to please.
Thank you for the comment! Yanno, my sister actually named Bindi. She was trying to be cute cause her leg was "bendy" and wanted it to sound like a bindi dot lol. She thought Sue just went with it. She had boy puppy in Beans (Bindi) litter that she called Cartman cause he was the biggest rolly poly. She thought he looked like Cartmen from Southpark. She didn't expect anyone to keep their names but she likes to name her puppies instead of assigning them a number. She had litterally NEVER seen Steve Irwin's daughter and didn't even know that was her name. She doesn't have cable lol. I told her "Oh Bindi Sue like Steve Irwins dog/daughter!" she said "WHAT!!?" haha. I love the Croc Hunter though! And his daughter is adorable! Thanks again :o) I kept her name cause it was cute but I call her Bean cause she's my lil jumping BEAN! Even without a hip socket, she's a SUPERB jumper! I try not to let her though because it can't ne too good for it.
Oh my gosh! I love your page. Thank-you for the welcome to My Corgi.com. I am not really very good at pictures for web sites...but after looking at your site I guess I will just have to try harder. Would love to have everyone see my friends...Your site really brightened my day....Marion
Thanks for the welcome! Yes I do believe they had tons of sequels to the movie but the first one will always be the best. Sadly, I watched it the other night and it is A LOT shorter than what I remember, haha.
Thanks for pointing out the site! It's really awesome! Yes, we do design Killer Bunnies and we will have to talk soon. Maybe you could come play with us some night as we playtest our new games every Tuesday night at the creator's house (he's a GOOD friend of mine!). Where do you hail from SD?
thanks so much for the comment! its todd in my profile pic... thats the only way i can get a up close with him! haha... when i go to take a picture and hes looking till it snaps and then hes looking away! lol
Hi...Her name is Tinkerbell...She was born on December 25, 2009. She is such a great puppy..My first Corgi, Scooter (Toasty) had already been trained when I got her and she had won 6 championships and top in the herding group...She was my first love and I will never forget her..I think of her everyday...That is why I had to go buy another one..And she too is very special!
Thank you for the warm welcome! Thanks for the invite to post pictures of Toby's shenanigans. I'm glad I'm not alone.....I'm new to the breed and thought I was doing something wrong....You've got to love them...Toby always make me laugh.
We live in San Carlos by Grossmont College. Maybe we could meet up and let our pups play together! It's funny because I'm only a little older than your oldest kid! (23) What we could probably do is maybe play a game over here at my place and see if we can't get you to come play with us on Tuesday after that. Do you come around this area often?
Thank you for your kind words....I have looked at a couple of rescue Corgi's down here and when I get back from hiking and going to visit Best Friends in Kanab, Utah again....I hope to adopt and move it to north Atlanta with me. I will add pictures later! Best to you both. If you guys live in Ca.; have you ever gone over to St. George Utah, and taken your dogs hiking in the canyons? It is beautiful at this time of the year and Best Friends is just an hour away in Kanab. Well worth a visit! Kind regards, Merrie Whitlock
Just wanted to say, danke for your kind words. Sassy is getting a little better. I am taking her to the chiropractor today in an hour. She is moving her back legs a bit, like the motion when we go outside and do our business :-) But mind you I have her rear legs up with the towel around her belly. She also barked yesterday, I thought she had lost that too. If I position her feet exactly under her, she can stand for about 5-6 seconds, but loses her balance and flops to either right or left side. I am still trying to figure out this site :-( How do I invite you to be my friends? Or do you have to invite me?
Thanks for the welcome. I am a little slow about getting to my Corgi and reading comments. I love it. Riley is the most fun dog I have ever had. I need to put some new pics of him on.
We just got back from the chiropractor. It was amazing. Sassy was not hurting where I thought she would. It was higher up. Well she gave her a GOOD adjustment, I put her back in the pen with her dinner and 1/2 a Aspirin. I think she is tired now, I would be. We have to go back next Sunday. Hopefully she will improve every day!! Have a great evening :-)
Kind regards
Marika
HEY!!! I'm sooooo sorry i haven't talked to you in so long! My compuer crashed in May and just got this one all hooked up and ready to go in time for school. It was torture without a computer but I survived, Lol. What's up wit u and ur fur kiddies?! Write bak soon!!!
Hi Geri! Thanks for your comment on my video. Your neighbor must really love schipperkes. Dash is very sweet and well behaved. Sadie was like a little maniac. So happy to have a playmate. She kept herding him though. Kept him under the patio chair a lot except when he was running for his life :) She wasn't mean to him. She just wanted to be all up in his koolaid for some reason! lol We all had a lot of fun!
thanks much! can't say i have anything sugar free, it's just not worth it frankly. I'm a type 2 diabetic myself and can have everything i make...just not all at once. :) dark chocolate is best, and i have 3 vegan options, so thy're lower in carbs cuz no milk/cream/butter. :)
I'm great, Freshman year!!!! Honey's good too she's adjusted good to everyone being at school. So glad to have a computer bak i'm obsessed with Facebook!!! Do u go on Facebook? U should if u don't it's really fun!!!! K well that's about it for me write bak soon!!
Thanks for the corgi welcome. We just got back from a walk, and the corgis are tired and happy. That makes for a quiet evening watching the Phillies in the playoffs!
Thank you for the welcome. Kipp and I both send you a big aloha from Maui. We are just waiting to see when Kipp will max out on his growth. He is getting longer, but I think the Corgi legs will be the end of him getting taller. haha!
o.k., thank you I will try that. I was just looking at the PWCCA site, but it is kinda like grabbing at straws. Once you have gone through having a dog with DM you don't want to go through it again. At the same time how could anyone return a dog to the breeder if they found out.... I couldn't. Anyways, I will try the link. Thanks again :)
hello, my dog's name is bear. i got him at a shelter...he was an abused dog. the shelter said he was corgi mix. i am not sure what he is an part of the reason why i joined the site to see if anyone had an educated guess as to what he is. thanks
When Ein and Brian first met, they locked eyes, and then Ein pulled and pulled toward Brian, (looking so amazed that there's another dog in the house) They both did a thorough sniffing and then they started to play when we took them inside the house. :)
Just a note to say hi to the corgi family in sunny California from the corgi family in wet, cold and ugh Virginia. I can hardly wait for Monday....weather back in the 70's and sunny. Wish my dogs would think this was too nasty to go out and play today...but they are begging for a romp....so out we will go. Next weekend we will be off the the corgi specialty in Leesburg, Va....not to show just as spectators and to assist the corgi owners that need help. They are such a special group of people and it's always fun to be with them and catch up on the news. Just wondering if you are having any trouble with Frontline not working in your area....We seem to be having trouble here....Vets advising we go to Advantage for a few months and back to Frontline after that....or that we try the new pill...Comfortis. I really am not ready to try the pill....Would like to see it used more before I make my dogs guinea pigs.....So far we have been doing fine...but many of my neighbors are having difficulty with fleas...Will appreciate any input you have on flea control. Thanks Marion
