Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Taffy, our Pembroke little lady was born on April 30, 2002. She is our little princess and goes everywhere with us. Dudley, our Cardigan boy was born on November 16, 2006 and is a bruiser! He's a big mischievous boy.
I can undertand why people would be bummed, He is stunning. His ears are amazing! Wiggle butt is one of the many nicknames we use. I just love that funny walk when they try to wiggle the tail that isn't there!
Yea! I'm glad you got one of the pins I made :) That was a HUUUUGE order (And I donated extras to the club too)! LOL
I wish I could be at the Nationals this year! Couldn't afford the petsitter, and bringing my 3-year old with me this year though. Maybe next time the event is closer to me I can go *G*
Hi Cheri, I noticed on a blog/discussion (can't remember which) that you scale your dogs teeth. I brush my corgi's teeth everyday but there is some plaque buildup from a period of time when they weren't getting brushed; II had to have a babysitter for six weeks :(. Is scaling a dog's teeth difficult? Is it something that anyone can do? Where do you buy a scaler? Thanks! Kate and Oakley
Beautiful dogs you have! Dudley is just drop dead beautiful! What a big handsome boy! I have to ask because I am so in awe, where do you get your doggy clothes for Dudley? And what size? Regis is a big boy and I don't know what sizes will fit him, Medium so far doesn't fit him anymore!
Thanks for the info on his clothes, luckily there is a Target out here, so now I will have to go take a look. Cardi's seem like they'd fit medium, but they are bigger than they appear :) Big wide chests. How much does your boy weigh? Regis is about 35 pounds and counting!
Yes they would make a stunning pair! Where did you find your two corgis? I got Phog from a breeder in DeSoto, KS. I noticed you are from Kansas City, MO. It is nice to see someone else on here that is from my area
No, I am not in the local club. I didn't think about joining one since I am not showing Phog. I thought most of those clubs were for people that show their dogs.
Great looking dogs. Of course I am a bit partial to the cardi but my parents have a pembroke. So fun to see the 2 play together. I have a great friend who lives in Kansas City. Was out there last July to visit. Hope to come out sometime with Le-Le and husband. I thought Kansas City was such a nice city.
I got her here in Oklahoma fro a friend I went to high school with. Since I got her for more as a companion, I never got her papers and really don't know her breeding.
Thanks alot Cheri, that is very helpful and I will let you know if anything comes up. I am excited for me and her, her energy is so full of life and I know she would enjoy it, who knows how good she'd be, but its just for fun. Be well Susan
Dudley is a very handsome Blue, Malibu is hoping to get a blue brother for Christmas as things are in the works. Malibu is staring her herding training and loves sheep. Good luck in agility.
Thanks!! Dudley is just soooo cute! I love the blue cardis they just have the most beautiful markings. Niko is starting to get more brown on him. I hope he turns out as handsome as Dudley.
That's good to hear. Finn has large ears too and the breeder said we may have to tape them because of the size. Most people say they should start showing some lift by 14 weeks or taping may be necessary. He has two weeks to go and I don't see any changes but if Dudley's took their sweet time standing then we will give it time. My mom owns Finnigan's half brother (same father) who is a year old. He was originally a show puppy but one of his ears flopped back down at about 8 months so he was returned to the breeder and my Mom fell in love with him. One of Finn's half sisters had her ears taped for almost a year before they stood so we're hoping it's not in the gene pool. (I attached a picture of his half brother. Hopefully it shows up.)
Hi Cheri! Your blog on Dudley's agility was great. It sounds like so much fun. I've been wanting to get Finnigan into agility and I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. How did you get started? Is there an age that is best for them to start?
Wow, I know exactly which Amex building you are talking about. We live no more than 10 minutes from there and drive by it all the time. I actually have 2 soon to be in-laws that also work for Amex. Small World. :)
We are taking a basic obedience class right now so he will know all his basic commands. He knows them now but doesn't always listen when we are out where there are more exciting things to pay attention to.
I will definitely look up a place in the area that does agility training. I looked at the one you mentioned in Tempe but if I could find one closer that might be better. I'll have to search some more.
Our wedding is in March so I think I'll look for classes that begin after that. That's also when his obedience classes will be over. He'll be 6 months old then so maybe he'll be a bit more focused as well. I think he would enjoy it. When he gets a burst of energy and runs around our apartment, he chooses the craziest paths like crazy 8's around two table then in between the objects with the smallest space possible such as between the fireplace and the plant in front of it. He looks like he's running some kind of course and maybe in his silly little mind, he is. :)
How is the agility on their joints? I know Corgis can have some problems with joints so I'm curious if it has any negative effects on them. My fiance had a Pembroke who developed arthritis and joint pain from going up and down stairs for so many years and the Pem his Dad has now blew out his knee just from playing too rough and jumping around. Have you experienced any problems?
That's too bad. It's nice that western Washington has several herding facilities. But....it's still a drive for us so not something I can do often either.
Thanks for all the great information. That's awful that Dudley needed elbow surgery at such a young age. That's definitely something I worry about. Still, i don't want to keep him too sheltered. I want him to have fun. :)
What did Dudley do that made you think something may be wrong? I wouldn't know what signs to look for. We don't let him go up or down stairs (which makes taking him potty really fun since we live on the 2nd floor) but sometimes simple things like going up the curb of the sidewalk can be a task. The other day he tried to step onto the curb and didn't judge the distance right and his back half slipped off. It looked like nothing but he started helping. We inspected his legs and paws and found nothing. A minute later he helped again and started biting at his shoulder. Perhaps he sprained it a bit. He's been fine since, but still it made me nervous.
Where did you get Dudley, by the way? He's such a beautiful dog.
That's interesting. Finnigan tends to run a little sideways sometimes and I always joke that maybe one of his hind legs is longer than the other but I guess you never can tell. The vet has felt his joint quite a bit because when we got him he had a really tough time using his back legs but he said it was just because the ligaments were loose and needed to be strengthened through exercise. That could be the reason for his funny running still but if it continues as he gets older it may be worth it to have him x-rayed. I'll have to keep that in mind.
I love your photos! We've only done CPE (and AKC) for almost a year, and will be going to only our third CPE trial in a month. I haven't done much of the games, but will go in head first at the next trial. It's nice and relaxing compared to AKC, though this past weekend Dally got her Open JWW title, so we're in all Excellent just in time for our "one-year trial."
How lovely to have one of each! When i was a little girl my pem was also called Taffy an he was great dog . Now i have a cardi called Wilf an he certainly is a one off!!!!
Your puppies are so sweet,,thanks for the add,,,,If you like photography im on Flickr.com were you can meet me and my family through my photo's :o) ~tina~
Cheri, yes, Pem Nationals are in my backyard!! Ft. Mitchell, KY. I'm excited--I'll be entering Dally in agility and hopefully Rally (not getting too serious about it right now, just want to title in something at Nationals.
Dock diving? What was that like? I've always seen the action on tv but never in person.
Cooper (my b&w) LOVES to swim. Last year one morning we went running with my boyfriend at the park and Cooper saw the ramp to this duck pond... ran straight for it and dove right in. I of course was none too pleased considering the water was a heinous green color. Cooper on the other hand seemed to be quite proud of himself hahaha.
How is the agility going? I can't wait to get started with Cooper. I think Uno would love it too! I did a little bit of agility when I was younger with my Siberian huskies.. it was a blast!
that camp sounds like sooo much fun! Where is it located?? I'd love to bring my boys! Dock diving sounds like a blast!!
I'm new to the whole breed handling thing too! It's been fun and interesting. I think my biggest challenge at the moment is getting Uno comfortable on the table. He's not too sure about it and it's obvious. Otherwise he's over the top enthusiastic LOL. Way too happy of a dog.
Make sure you let me know if you are coming up to Des Moines! Kodi is still a little young/growing for much agility yet, but I am hoping to do some Rally soon.
Hello there! As is Dudley~! I've been doing the same over the last few days and Mab has really grown a lot! Well as they say a Corgi is "A Big dog in a small dogs body".
Our Ridgeback is a great dog, we love her very much and she gets on very well with Mab our Cardi.
thanks, I can't wait to bring him home! Your Dudley is quite the handsome guy! I've watched his agility videos and he's soooo cute! I've got my Pems working on agility classes now.
