I'm a wife and student living in Buckeye, Arizona and I've been obsessed with corgis for more than a year! While waiting patiently to save up enough money for a red and white corgi puppy, I stumbled upon the most adorable black-headed tri corgi in a shelter 4 and a half hours away and my husband and I just had to see him! We fell in love at first sight and now he's ours.
We still want to eventually get a red and white corgi puppy so our new addition can have a playmate.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Back in November, we adopted the cutest black-headed tricolor Pembroke I've ever seen. His name is Vivi, named after Vivi Ornitier from the video game Final Fantasy IX. He's a very mellow dog that loves to cuddle and always wants to be with us. We just recently learned that he's around 2 years old. He can learn a new trick in one day. He loves walks, loves his crate, loves to play fetch, loves his stuffed dog, loves frapping, loves playing chase, loves his food, and he loves us! He is such a blessing to our home and we couldn't have asked for a better dog!
USING A SPRY BOTTLE OR COLLAR ON DOGS IS HUMANE. I DON'T LIKE THE IDEA MUCH, TO ME IT SEEMS RATHER CRUEL, ALTHOUGH I'M NOT SURE WHY, I USE A SQUIRT BOTTLE FILLED WITH WATER FOR THE CATS. NOW,,,,,,,,,IF THAT DOESN'T TELL YOU WHO RULES THE ROOST!!!
I THINK MAYBE I SHOULD GET MY PRIORITIES STRAIGHT. HAHAHA!!!!
I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT I WILL BE HAVING ANOTHER LITTER IN THE SPRING IF YOUR INTERESTED. I ALSO HAVE A VERY GOOD FRIEND THAT RAISES SOME OUTSTANDING SHOW DOGS. MOST OF THEM ARE RED AND WHITE. I'VE SOLD SOME DOGS FOR HER BEFORE. ALOT OF PEOPLE KNOW WHO SHE IS. IF YOUR INTERESTED, LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO COME TO CALIFORNIA.
If you are not experienced with puppies, consider an adult dog. Already house trained and has a "what you see is what you get" personality. Our Camber is almost 7 and we are approaching our 1 year anv. with her. Seems like we had her for years!
I think of it the opposite. An adult dog is much easier than a puppy. If they come when you call them, don't tear apart the house and can walk on leash... What else do you want in the begining? Older dogs can be trained no problem and I think the aquisition of either a puppy or rescue is similar. An older dog will settle any potential health issues that puppy may develop.
Once the dog is in your home, they love you as much as puppy would... Good luck!
Happy B day. Do you have your corgi yet? If you do I hopehe has brougt lots of lafter to you and your husband. I also like your drawings. very cute. I like drawing corgis to.:)
Hello Abbea :) Thanks for your sweet comment on my video from Henry :)
I hope you can soon have the chance to own a Corgi yourself, to have a new little friend and enjoy his amazing character ;) My cardigan Henry says Hello to you :)
Then I hope all the best that you can have your home and then the dog :)
Me and my husband are doing the same, he is in egypt and building our house, and I am waiting in germany till the end of the year to follow when the house will be finished...
I will keep you updated here with Henry ;)
;) well, I wish I would have money to follow him now, but its easier for us to keep money if I am in germany till the house is fixed in egypt you know ;)
And I am sure my sweet Henry will make a lovely and busy time for me here, so I won't be too upset at all! Rough time till the end of this year, but after that I am going to be too happy at all :)
I wish you a nice week! :) Tomorrow's my birthday...it's a pity to have birthday without my love around... :( Can you send me a cake? ;) hehe
Cool, so what is your ultimate goal after graduating school and all? I will one day (hopefully) be able to at least work at a wolf sanctuary and help rehabilitate wolves. I really hope you're able to get a corgi of your own soon. They're such a joy!
Sorry, I forgot to answer your question: Yes, that's Amaterasu! lol I love Okami! It has my favorite things: Art & wolves! My playstation 2 broke though, so I haven't played in a while. But I designed a tattoo of a wolf similar to Amaterasu and put my nickname underneath. I got it done when I turned 18. ^_^
Abbea,
Thank you for having a look at Monty!'s video. Your Corgi art is great! Just one word of advice: When you're so unsure about the "best time" for a Corgi, that's the best time to get a Corgi!
Hi Abbea! :))
YES! This little doggy storm is here now ;) keeping me busy all the time, but he is really such a sweetheart! All the people around here love him too, I always dont make it that far on the walks, since all the people wanna touch this lovley dog with the big ears^^ haha ;D
But, he is clean already after two weeks of training he makes his "business" only outside, and he can "sit" and "down" :D really too clever this boy! ;D
Cheers,
Christina and Henry
Hello Abbea,
Good luck on your search for your new Puppy. . .they are the cutest little critters. . .when I got Sid he was 3 yrs old, Babs was 10 mths old and Cloe was 8 weeks old. . .well you can imagine how fun this must be especially a new Puppy. . . .I'm sure you'll have the best time learning all about the Wonderful World of Corgis
Hi Abbea, Good luck on your search. I know a breeder who has a litter available right now, if you're interested. If you are, just let me know and I can get you some details.
Abbea,
I admire you & your husbands financial goals to be debt free! My husband & I taught Dave Ramsy's Financial Peace class at our church. Have you ever watched him on Fox Bus. Network? If you are not successful in finding the right pup locally, let me know. I have been very lucky in combining pups to travel together and for owners to split costs :)
Thank you for the compliment. Dash is my handsome baby boy.... Im pretty bias. I think you are on the right track in getting your finances in order and preparing yourself for your future Corgi. I only have one Corgi at the moment.... they are like a bag of potato chips you can't just have one. Im trying to have self control and wait until Dash is fully recovered and his training down before we venture into Corgi mayhem.
Abbea, I joined a copoy of months ago but this is my 1st posting.I too live in Glendale up around the 101. I have a 18mo old F Pembroke named Chloe and i'm getting a mle puppy is mid Nov.I'm a member of a few local groups, if youd like to meet let me know.Would you be interested in a rescue? Id so I can introduce you to a couple. Remember a Corgi kiss keeps the doctor away. Rosemary & Chloe Mae
I've never even heard of that PS1 game, lol. It looks interesting. I'm not sure where I got the name Waffle from at all, but once I thought it, it stuck.
Congratulations on finding yourself a Corgi! Vivi is a cute name. He looks so happy in the pictures. How is he settling in? Do you know why he was at the shelter?
I'm sure the combination of being in a new place with new people and being sore from surgery keep him a little withdrawn and unsettled but I wouldn't worry. He'll be acting normal in no time and once he realized that you are his family and that is his home, he'll be great.
I don't understand why people buy more pets when they can't even take care of the ones they have! At least he's found a forever home with you guys. I can't wait to meet him. We'll have to plan a meet up soon.
So you have a vet and everything all lined up? Are you going to take him to training classes or just teach basic commands at home? Corgis are great to train because they learn so quickly. You're going to have a lot of fun with him. :)
I wanted to tell you that I think Vivi is adearable. I am, of course, partial to black headed tri-colored corgis. I saw your blog and recent videos and I clicked over to look at the rest of your photos. He's a beautiful dog and so sweet. He has a very gentle look about him. Congrats on the new adoption with Vivi - I hope you will be very happy with him for many years to come. PS - Algy says that Vivi needs lots of treats!
He's beautiful!
I found my Tobe through petfinder in Aug and I couldn't be happier...he's a wonderful dog and I'm so glad that I was able to adopt him.
Have fun with your Vivi =D
Yeah, that whole moving the treat from their nose to the back is supposed to make them naturally sit, never worked on Cookie. She just backs up. Good luck on trimming the nails. After having her for 11 months, she no longer gets mad when I clean her paws with a towel, but she doesn't like me to hold them longer enough to clip. And I just can't see the quick! Even with money tight, I would rather pay someone else to trim her nails. That is bad isn't it? He is looking better already, from the picture you posted before you picked him up. Shinier. Amazing what love and attention can do . . .
Hi there. I just wanted to say your dog and mine are soooooooooo much alike. They both have the same markings but also the video you have posted of him with the tennis ball. Well it was like looking into a mirror. My puppy has the same ball and does all the same things with it. To funny.
