I was raised in Western Massachusetts and now live in Mobile, AL
About Me:
My partner and I are the proud parents of 3 Pemmies,a Cardi X, and a Cardi, of whom are spoiled rotten. I'm a dog trainer. I also volunteer my time to an animal welfare organization here to train their dogs on the basics so they are more adoptable. I continue to work with service, therapy and special needs dogs. I am disabled by Fibromyalgia now and only train privately. My partner, Patti B., is a groomer and all-around animal whisperer! She also is disabled; an Iraq War Vet. We also have a catahoula x and mini aussie x to round out the family.
Tank, CWC X, is AKC-CGC and Delta certified and is retired as my partner's service dog. (She is an OIF/Iraq War vet.) Everybody in town knows Tank. I'm no longer Cindi, I'm Tank's mom. We also have Rainer, Riley, Harmony (service dog), Dundee, Moira, and honorary corgis Ranec (catahoula) and Aine' (aussie).
Dundee, PWC, is a puppy mill rescue. When we adopted him, he weighed 14 lbs, was missing fur, teeth were rotten, ears eaten off...it was sad. Now he's a healthy and happy boy!
Moira, PWC, was a rescue organization adoption. She was grossly overweight, close to 48 lbs. She's now a svelte 25 lbs. She's the boss of the whole pack!
Harmony is a CWC who came from a wonderful breeder in the Huntsville area. She is just a sparkle princess! So sweet natured and good hearted. She joined our family on August 21st '09. Harmony is now trained as Corgi Mom's new service dog. She's so SMART! Everyone loves her and she has her own fan club now.
Rainer was an owner surrender to me after he was attacked by an intact pit bull and it's owner. He was in pretty bad shape. Now he is such a happy boy, running and jumping and frapping! He loves everyone he sees. Still working on liking other dogs, but that will come in time.
Thank you! The whole reason I joined this website was because i knew people on here have went through what i am going through and i really need the support! thanks again.
Cindi,
Tears are very cleansing, aren't they. I'm glad that those words helped you. Rudy was so lucky to have had both of you and his corgi pals. I'm sure that he is smiling and waiting at the bridge.
Thanks for the support it really helps. I go through spurts where I cry so hard I shake and then other times I can talk about him and I am fine..its confusing and hard but the support really helps!
Thank you that was at a Corgi party we went to every year. We had fun he got to play with other corgis. We had to buy him a harness because he kept pulling his collar clear off because he sat there when I tried to make him walk. He was so spoiled
Thanks so much! We are doing ok. My dad had back surgery so our minds are on that right now. I tried bringing up happy memories of Riley but my dad, he is just not ready for that yet. Thanks and please keep us in your prayers.
The web site for Camp Dogwood is www.campdogwood.com. It's SO fun! They have a ton of activities that you can try with your dog. Agility, flyball, lure coursing, frisbee, dock diving, tracking, herding...and no experience is necessary. It's a blast!
Thanks so much for your photo comment. Don't let her fool you, though; the only sadness that plagues her Corgi heart is that the tennis ball rolls easily under the sofa and her little legs are too short to reach it.
Your little 'dog pack' is really amazing. I admire so much the effort if must have taken to get those fellas back in tiptop shape. They look so happy in your pictures.
Of course, it's worth it, isn't it? =)
I appreciate that, she is getting better already ,they seem to be a really tough breed. I am sure she be fine she is perking up nicely. Thanks for your concern
They think that her food may have too much fat in it or its a virus. We never give her people food, we are not big fans of begging and both breeds of dogs we have have the tendencing to get fat easily. Our vet wants us to bring in food bag to see if it has too much fat for her. Both our dogs are on wellness and we thought it was supposed to be good food. We will see on Monday. One day at a time.
What a beautiful family you have! Thanks for the friend request. Thanks for joining the GLBT Corgi Families group :) I knew there had to be more of us out there.
Hi Cindi - found you on the GLBT group site and just wanted to say hello! My partner and I just got a Corgi in January, but we have many animals (check out my page for pics).
Thanks for the note. If you ever know of anyone looking for a good stud dog...our dog "Cowboy" aka He's a Blue Jean Kinda guy"....is an AKC registered tri colored pembroke male. He's does the job! We are looking for a small refined looking AKC sable and white female. We like our Corgis on the small side. Keep me posted.
I thought I was reading a site glitch. I didn't ever think about another "Cindi" with a corgi problem. Thanks for your sweet comment about our Twinkie. She is sure cute but still pretty rotten.
Hey, I have seen ya'll at petsmart. Ya'll have the little "mini" corgi. It would be great to have a corgi gathering. There needs to be more pet events in Mobile.
Looks like you have quite the clan too! I have had several rescues and found them to all be great...I am glad that there are people like you that take them in and give them a home! Wiley is one of my rescues that I couldn't give up!
Hi Cindi, how in the world did you get Moria down to 25 lbs? We have two PWC and the female is at 30 now..down from 32. She has hip dysplasia and we are trying our best to get her fit for surgery. We had planned the surgery for a month ago and decided to wait for a few more lbs. to come off. She gets plenty of exercise so we are at a loss. Any tips much appreciated. She and brother, Max are 20 months old.
Thanks for the info Cindi. I do believe we are going in the right direction. We have her on Science Diet and it's for weight loss and we don't give her treats. She only gets a supplement for her bones each day. I am probably just too impatient. I know it won't happen overnight. We are limited as to how much exercise she can have due to the hips. Both hips are affected. She does seem to tire more quickly then the male. Thanks for the info on the timeline too..that makes me feel much better.
Finnigan thanks you for the compliment. :)
He's our only dog and we still don't have room for more. Down the road when we do have room I think we'd like to get a little girl Cardi, either black and white or red brindle. My husband wants another blue but I think we should just have one of each. :)
I saw in an old post that you and your partner sold all natural flea prevention products. I was wondering if you guys still do that? I have been having a problem with Paisley who has been getting sick when I treat her with frontline, and would love to figure out a healthier alternative. Feel free to message me on my page or e-mail me at artiebacardi@gmail.com! Thank you!
I read about little Cody and it made me cry. Just looking into that little face in his picture - how could anyone not just love him to pieces. I am sure he is greatly missed. Your pack is adorable, and I am sure they keep you busy! Thank you for all you do for those corgis out there!
Your new baby is almost identical to our Ollie. The only difference is that Ollie isn't fluffy. We got him as a rescue and he was a stray so we don't know anything about his ancestry so I wonder if they could be related.(:
