Mt. Snoqualmie, N summit, east face

You can see our footsteps down the center-left snow chute. It was steep, serious terrain, Gwynnie on belay in her safety harness (I rarely do anything where this is actually required). The soft snow makes it much easier to kick good secure steps, but this is definitely ice-ax stuff. We skirted the cliff and approached the pinnacle from the right -- also with the dog on belay -- it was very airy, 100' cliffs on either side, but not all that seriously exposed. The final summit block was what we call Class 4 -- easy, but exposure prompts use of a roped belay -- no place for a dog, not even Gwynnie -- so we wisely retreated with our tails between our legs -- quite a feat, since neither of us has a tail.
