Well at least you and your husband both ended up with a close pal. How aweful would it have been if they had both favored the same person?
Finnigan loves us almost equally, but I think he favors me a bit more. Jason rough houses with him more which he enjoys but when it comes who he follows around, that's me. He is at my feet no matter where I am in the house. If I get up and move, he's right there. When I'm standing in the bathroom getting ready in the morning, he lays right between my feet. Sounds like Finn has an attitude more like Caleb though. I bet they'd get along great. :)
Me too. I always wanted a merle dog as a kid. Desperately. Then what do I do, have German Shepherds for 20 years plus and... no merles. I finally get my merle and he dumps me for my husband - he's his dog, through and through, right down to the two of them watching football together on Sundays. He wanted the brindle, he absolutely wanted the brindle, and he was going to show the brindle... well, guess who does that, and guess who has the merle? ;) Siggghh.
Caleb's mine though, through and through. He follows me everywhere at work, waits by the windows when I carry things out to cars for customers, etc. He's just a mushball when it comes to me... and I think sometimes dogs just decide who needs what. I adore him, and he's just got so much attitude packed into his body... where Simon is just a very gentle soul, and loves to sit on Matt's lap every night - which is what Matt needed.
Simon likes to come up and cuddle for a few minutes on the bed, but he prefers to sleep in his own bed, upside-down, with his feet sticking up in the air. He sometimes will sneak up there in the morning and curl up next to me long enough to lean his big ol' head across mine and sigh softly, or lick me on the nose, but on the whole, he prefers to simply sleep in his cushy dog bed.
Neither Pem has ever had any desire to sleep in my bed, at all, period. Although, Simon taught all the dogs a cool trick - beat this one, he sleeps on the back of the sofa so he can see out the window... When we leave the house, he hops up there, settles down, and guards the house from there until we come back. Never moves, I guess, it's kind of sweet.
Taught himself that one day when we were gone. Now ALL my dogs do it. I came home one day after going to dinner and there were four corgis mushed up against the window, sacked out. I was impressed. I don't know how they do it and not fall off.
Finn's beautiful though, man. Every time I see new photos of him he's just more and more striking. :)
I know, the merles are my love as well (hence Finnigan) and I was never a big fan of brindle but that red brindle is beautiful.
Finnigan has one look and its "goofy", but that goofy look gets him his way as well. He'd be in our bed too if he wanted to be but he doesn't. He's never liked being up on the bed or the couch. What about Simon, does he sleep in your bed?
Lol, Alice, I call that his "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful," look.
He's the smuggest little dog sometimes. I know, I really love that fire-engine red coat too - but my color-love will always be with a merle, sighhhh. ;) <3
(I admit it, I've lived my life with no dogs on the bed... so... who's on the bed? Caleb, snoring right next to me. I guess I've just mellowed in my old age.)
