Hi we have a five year old that began limping in mid November. The vet took xrays and found a large flat spot on her right front shoulder joint and a small bone chip in each front elbow. The vet gave…Continue

Hi Pauline! It sounds like things are looking up...it's better I think to have a name to put on their problems, then you know what you are dealing with. Thank you for asking about Sidney, he's doing really well. We took a hike on New Year's Day, it was 3.8 miles and he walked with no trace of a limp. I was so happy and so proud of him...and thankful to the vet surgeon and the water therapist!

Thank you! I'm convinced the main reason he did so well was from taking him to water therapy while he was healing. Just simple swimming!

I've heard stem cell therapy mentioned a few times, but I don't know anything about it. You could ask your question to Wendy Wendt, she knows a LOT about things like that. Here is her page:

HI Pauline. I see you've added a photo of Sofe, she's beautiful!

PLease let me know what the vet tells you. I've never heard of anything like what you described. I do know what you mean about her eing so young though. SIdney was only three when we heard the words "severe hip displasia", and that he'd be crippled by such bad pain all his life without surgery. It was scary and the price tag was daunting, but seeing Sid now, I'm so glad we made the decision. Watching him move, you would have no idea he couldn't walk just a few months ago.

If it is a joint problem, make sure you go see a PennHip vet; they are specially trained to deal with joint issues. We'll keep Sofe in our thoughts :)

Welcome, Pauline. What kind of joint problems is your corgi having? Sidney has severe hip dysplasia and had surgery a few months ago.
