Thank you! I'm convinced the main reason he did so well was from taking him to water therapy while he was healing. Just simple swimming!
I've heard stem cell therapy mentioned a few times, but I don't know anything about it. You could ask your question to Wendy Wendt, she knows a LOT about things like that. Here is her page:

PLease let me know what the vet tells you. I've never heard of anything like what you described. I do know what you mean about her eing so young though. SIdney was only three when we heard the words "severe hip displasia", and that he'd be crippled by such bad pain all his life without surgery. It was scary and the price tag was daunting, but seeing Sid now, I'm so glad we made the decision. Watching him move, you would have no idea he couldn't walk just a few months ago.
If it is a joint problem, make sure you go see a PennHip vet; they are specially trained to deal with joint issues. We'll keep Sofe in our thoughts :)
