I'm a mostly-retired web site designer in Castro Valley and an OLD computer guy -- I used mastodon tusks to punch IBM cards. My lovely wife (since 1981) is an IT manager.
We have 5 Cardigans: Starbuck and Windy, plus 3 of Windy's pups (Biggie, Burgundy, and Purple), who were born Xmas day 2004.
Starbuck was born in 1997. His kennel name was "Star", but we thought that wasn't macho enough, so we changed it. His new name is like the coffee people, but only in that both were named for the character in Moby Dick, the big-time coffee-drinking first mate on the Pequod, "Mister Starbuck".
Starbuck is a really beautiful fluffy blue merle cardigan. So much so that the Coedwig site, which features pictures of his daddy dog (Carbon Blue) and Carbon's offspring, has a picture of Starbuck under the title "What is a 'Fluffy'?" at the bottom of the page http://www.coedwig.com/puppies.html
His wife Windy is 4 years younger. Because Starbuck is a fluffy, his brother Tarzan is the sire of Windy's litter. You can see LOTS of pictures of the pups, listen to the sound of fetal puppy heartbeats, and read the pups' pedigree at www.rhetorich.com/dogs/. I'll add a few more pix of everybody here later.
We kept three of the puppies. We decided NOT to show the pups and sold the guys we didn't keep as pets (requiring the new owners fix them). Surprisingly the ears came up by themselves on the three we didn't keep, but stayed down on the ones we kept (probably so the other kids wouldn't bite 'em). We didn't want to tape their ears, so their ears are still floppy. We like how they look :)
Bailey: Hi Starbuck!!! How I love you and your family!!! It was great seeing u guys yesterday, and I must admit I think you're more handsome than me... haha =)
That's ok, I figured you were busy. I sent you a friend request as well then I realized that you don't have anyone listed as your friends and wondered if you even noticed the requests people sent you. When I first joined, I didn't see it at first then all of a sudden I had 5 or 6 requests. Well, in case you didn't see that field, it's at the top right of your page under your inbox... Anyway, in my previous message I meant to say "now" I can see the difference in Starbuck's coloring, not "noe" (oops). His colors seem to have lightened quite a bit with age but I think it gives him a more wise, mysterious look. He looks like he's a great dog. :)
Aww, how cute. Noe I can see the difference in his coloring. I love the one ear up pictures. Did you have to tape his ears or did they go up own their own?
