adopted a puppy. was told she was a "chow/lab mix". at 1st it seemed likely, purple tongue, floppy ears, straight tail..... but the older she got the stranger she looked! her front legs started getting bowed, her body got REALLY long, her ears stood straight up & her tail got curly! my grandparents had a pure bred corgi so i should have caught on sooner....the vet is decently sure there's no need for genetic tests, she's a corgi/german shepherd/chow mix! such an odd combo..... she's very bright tho. she immediately took to kennel & house training. she's patient with "her boy" (aka my 2yr old son) and has no problem letting him sit on her & poke her in the eye or stick his hands in her mouth....she listens to him better than anyone! he loves putting her in her kennel for no reason, simply because she'll do it just because he asked her to. since the day we brought her home, she has been surprisingly loyal and protective of him. if he's upstairs asleep & she hears a strange sound, she'll post herself with her back to the base of the stairs. the other day, my best friend brought her 6mo old pit bull over for a puppy play date....honey is smaller and was willing to be submissive, even tho this new dog was on her turf. BUT, the minute the pit started playing too rough with my son, honey came tearing around the corner, hair on end, snarling, all teeth showing...she was ready to FIGHT. she knew that pit could have killed her but she didnt care as long as she thought her boy was in danger. she's the 1st dog i've ever had who is THAT loyal.

Welcome! He is so cute. I had found a chow/corgi in IL but they wouldn't let me adopt because we were too far away. Lucky you:)
