Anybody here knowledgeable about Pembroke bloodlines?

I have a dog that is likely a Pembroke Welsh Corgi mix (was a shelter dog with no history) but people keep thinking she might be pure. I find that unlikely but if she is pure she must be from some rare bloodline or something! Anybody know of a bloodline with her oddball traits? She's got hardly any white on her chest (and every Corgi I've seen had white at least covering the front of the chest) and her ears are pointed and close together.

Definitely looks like pure Pem to me. They don't need to have any white at all. They can be solid.

The outer coat is to be of self colors in red, sable, fawn, black and tan, with or without white markings. White is acceptable on legs, chest, neck (either in part or as a collar), muzzle, underparts, and as a narrow blaze on head.

@Vicky Hay Yeah, she's definitely a sable.

Though let's make sure we mean the same thing when we say "sable" :) When I say sable I'm talking about her tan and black areas. It's irrespective of what kind of or how many white markings are present. White markings are just genetics way of saying, "Hey body, whatever colors would normally be here don't put it. It's gonna be white!" White markings are a lack of pigment. :)

Anyway, I've been able to locate many pictures of Pembrokes with sable just like hers, so being sable definitely doesn't make her a mix. It's the white markings themselves that have me scratching my head. I can find Corgis with some of her white markings (the ones on her feet and on her face) but I cannot find any with anything like what's on the front of her chest. They always have more white--and usually way more. There is nothing wrong with that but it makes me wonder how she could be a pure Pem if she's the only one who has that little white on the chest. Where would the genes for it come from. Wouldn't they have to come form outside the breed?

*hugs Madison* You're a cute but confusing doggie! <3

@Susan. Yeah! I wonder too if she has Swedish Vallhund in her. :) It seems like a longshot because it's such a rare breed but who knows!

I agree with Vicky.  Could easily be sable.  Or maybe Swedish Valhund.  Or mix? Google images on Valhunds.  Even has the pointy ears.

No expert here...but she looks suspiciously like a sable corgi to me. Not all purebred dogs come out with "perfect" markings -- which are a construct of the human mind, not of nature.
