Last week I blogged regarding a repeal of Basil's Law...A law put in place to ban trapping in the right-of-way after the tragic death of my best friend Basil. The bill to repeal the ban will be discussed for the first time this year by the Nebraska Legislature on Friday, January 30. Please check out the original blog post and read the reponses at the end from Theresa and myself. If you are from Nebraska please communicate with your senator. If you are not from Nebraska you can still help by sending a message to Nebraska legislators. The repeal is on a fast track and I need to do everything I can to stop it! FYI Basil is the red/white Corgi in my profile picture. Thank you! Here is the link to the orignial blog. http://www.mycorgi.com/profiles/blogs/attempt-to-repeal-basils-law

Just a quick update on what is going on. Senators have let me know they are receiving messages. Thank you to everyone that has contacted Nebraska Legislators!. They ran out of time today and did not get to the bill. It is on the agend again for tomorrow. We have been able to gather a group that will work toether to amend the bill. I think the notes from members helped! The amendment would leave the ban in place, but allow for special permits if there is a need to address a wildlife damage issue. If traps are set by special permit the area would have to be prominently posted to warn people of the presence of traps. dogs can't read, but then again I am usually with mine and I would respect the warning and not walk my dogs in an area where there are traps. We will at least slow the debate down and create a time loss on the agenda and maybe the speaker will delay bringing the bill back for a while. Again Thank you to everyone. One voice does make a difference!

I emailed every senator and I hope that helps you in some way. I hope they realize how dangerous that is for children and everyone really. Good luck.

i dont even have anselm yet but I could imagine how I felt if someone or something I loved so dear had an ending so tragic and I have read your original post. I'm very politically inclined and I will send a message to some senators so good luck and Godspeed.
