Well, after some confusion over the past week, Riley will finally be arriving tomorrow night! He was supposed to be here last Tuesday, but unfortunately, things didn't work out. It was probably better in the long run. I had vet school finals until Thursday, and even though I had lined someone up to watch him for me until I was done, the time I would have spent going to the airport was better applied to studying physiology. It has all worked out in the end.
I feel bad for Riley though. He'll be getting into the airport at 9:30 tomorrow night, making the 45 minute drive to my apartment, staying here with me for 2-3 days, going to my parent's for a night, and then we're moving to Kalamazoo for my internship with Pfizer for the summer! He'll be so confused! At least he's already 12 weeks old, so maybe housetraining won't be quite so difficult! I hope he likes car rides!
I've enlisted the help of a friend to ride with me to the airport, and then drive on the way back. He will no doubt make fun of me when I'm on the verge of tears upon seeing my puppy. I've basically owned this pup since before the female had been bred. When I do the math, I've owned a 3 month old puppy for 6 months. That is a scary thought.
I've gotten us all set up for puppy classes at Petsmart starting Saturday the 17th. I'm excited for that! In the mean time, I'm frantically tucking away cords, starting to pack for my move, and feeling like tomorrow night will never come! The treat jar is filled, the carpet cleaner is at the ready, and I think I'm just a little bit ready for him to be here too! There will no doubt be a slurry of pictures in the days to come!
Wish me luck!
