hydrogen peroxide is very cheap, you can get them near the bandaid aisle at walmart. I keep 6 bottles at all times. Mike, having a pet is a huge under taking, read those links that I sent you the other day, use the search box and you'll find most answers available. Every owner here went through all 9 months of it, the method works, make sure you clean the area very well.
The mystery of eating waste will probably never be answered. I know many dogs that are parasite free, eat the highest quality of food and are in robust health that eat waste. More importantly how to deal with it best would be to pick up after your pup immediately. Design a more rigorous house training program to help him learn to go outside. Peroxide can be obtained at any grocery or drug store. You will find it with the wound care. Lastly he is only pooping all over the house because he is not being supervised. Looks to be a very young pup.....he only learns proper house manners from you. There are many articles available on line regarding house training. It may behoove you to read them. Most of all he needs very regular outings, supervision and confinement to a smaller area when you are not home to supervise.
where can i get the peroxide and he has pooped allllll over the house and i think i have to clean the whole house with the peroxide thing i guess its something that removes scent. where can i get it tho
If he goes inside, remove him from the area and dont let him see you clean it up. Make sure to clean it and use peroxide to remove the smell incase he wants to come back later and go again in the same spot.
freakin pet store owner said twice feeding a day... and i give it good dog food. and while i clean the poop. i take the chunk of poop and flush it and he licks the stain...
It's a fairly common problem for dogs to eat their own poop, and there could be a number of reasons.
The dog may have worms. Intestinal parasites will make the dog feel hungry all the time and may lead to poop eating.
Poor quality food. If you are feeding any brand of kibble from the grocery store or Walmart, it is not highly nutritious. The dog may be seeking extra nutrition by eating poop. Switch to a high quality dog food.
Not eating regularly. A young puppy should be fed 3-4 times a day on a schedule (can be cut back to 2 times later). If the puppy gets hungry in between meals, it may decide to eat poop.
Some dogs just like the taste. Try offering the dog a treat right after it poops to distract it from eating the poop by giving it something better.
There are some products on the market to sprinkle on food which are supposed to make the poop taste bad. Some people also successfully feed the dog a small piece of pineapple before a meal. Neither of these solutions work for every dog. The only sure-fire way to stop it is to clean up the poop as soon as it happens. If you do this, most dogs outgrow the habit.
