my corgi ( charlie ) has been coughing recently. more and more often everyday.
it first started 4 days or 3 days ago. i havent let him out of the house but he sniffs around. he likes to go in those small gaps between my bed and the wall. and sniff up all the dirt. hes been coughing and i can hear the mucus in his throat. he looks sad :(
he spitted out once and i grabbed him immediately and cleaned it. but he always not cough it out and swallow it back in. can someone pls help me? i think it might have something to do with kennel cough.

You just got the pup in the last week, and he has been coughing and getting worse since you've had him, correct? It could be kennel cough, or something worse. Pet store puppies often do have some respiratory problems from being in close quarters with a lot of other young puppies from different places.

He needs to go to the vet as soon as you can possibly get him there. Kennel cough is curable, but can kill him if not treated. He also needs treatment if it is something else. Have your mom call the pet store where you got him and ask about any type of health guarantee, and if they will cover the cost of him being sick. If he came from Petland, they will not honor any guarantee unless you took him to their specific vet within the first 72 hours.

take him to a vet...coughing can be caused from many things...simple (dust, allergies, etc.) to more complex (heart issues, fluid inlungs, etc.) so the vet is the best route.

Hi Mike,
My Corgi had a cough after I bought him for 1 week. At that time, he was a little over 3 months old. I made the mistake of taking him out to my garden (on a leash) for a stroll when he had not had all his 4 vaccinations. So, I took him to the vet. Within 2 days, he was as good as new although the medication was for about 5 days. I followed the vet's instruction and gave him the medicine for the 5 days.
Whenever you puppy/dog is sick, it's best to take him to the vet. :o)

It could be the dust he's breathing. Why don't you take him outside? The fresh air might help him breathe a little better. Does anyone in your house smoke? I've wondered if pets get respiratory problems if their owners smoke. The vet is the best advice, though.
