This morning Ginny was attacked by a really mean stray cat! I was taking her out to do her "business" early this morning when it happened. I live on the second floor in a condo and outside my door is a hallway. My neighbors insist on keeping the doors to the hallway propped open with rocks. Anyways, we stepped out the door and I saw this big black cat in the door of the hallway. It hissed and looked mean so I told Ginny to "leave it" and we went the other way to avoid it. But this evil cat-jerk had to follow us and was now getting aggressive! I pulled Ginny around me to get myself between her and the cat but it went ahead and scratched her, right above her nose. The cat sat back on its haunches and growled. Ginny showed no aggression towards the cat (she knows better because I don't let her chase our cats) - this thing was not defending itself from her but was on the attack! I didn't want to go back in the apartment, because my own cat Minerva was right inside the door and I know she would totally lose in any fight because she has zero street cred. So all I can do is start pushing the cat out of the hallway with my foot while holding poor Ginny and then try to kick the rock out from under the door to close the door to the hallway. I ended up kicking the rock down the stairs which frightened the cat enough that it ran off. Then Ginny and I had to go out the other door for her to finally go potty. I didn't realize she was scratched until we got back in the house. I rinsed her little nose off under the sink and put some neosporin on it. I hope it doesn't get infected! :(

I could still hear that mean old cat yowling outside the door the rest of the morning while I was getting ready.

I'm just glad Ginny's had all her shots and I'll just have to watch the scratch to make sure it doesn't get infected. It isn't very deep, he just nicked her a little bit, but who knows what kind of diseases he could have had?? Anyways, sort of a stressful morning!

My mom has a black cat who is a brat.....he gets really fiesty and trys to attack Wyatt...then we lock up the cat, he gets crazy with his fur all frizzed out, hissing at Wyatt and trying to smack him in the face. And Wyatt does not defend himself against the cat, which is crazy because he can be a little devil! My sister told me that dogs are less likely to attack a cat because they are pack animals and would attack if they were with more than one...on the other hand cats hunt alone and are not afraid to attack.

I hope his nose is okay.

bye

That's funny! Maybe I'll start a corgi martial arts school and teach her some street fighting skills. I think she was so confused because our house cats just run away from her if she starts to bug them too much but they have never gone after HER!

Wow, monster cat! Our 2 housecats are declawed so SId has no fear of them. If he ever ran into a tough street cat he would have no idea what to expect!
In addition to rattlesnake avoidance training maybe someone should offer mean street cat avoidance. Duck and cover, or "Run away! Run Away!" (said in my most convincing Monty Python impersonation).

I hope Ginny heals well and does not end up afraid of Minerva.
