So our little Ein came back from his first vet visit with a lovely case of giardia and whipworm.... *shudder*...

Luckily he hasn't shown any symptoms yet. He has been a little lethargic since we adopted him last week, but we feel most of that can be attributed to being in a new environment. Now, on top of settling in to a new home, our little boy gets to look forward to 5 days of deworming meds followed by a trip to the tub for a thorough cleaning.

I, on the other hand, have been sanitizing, re-sanitizing, then sanitizing again to keep my husband and I and our two kitties free from the lovely parasites. Here I was a little disappointed that the cats weren't being very friendly to Ein, when in retrospect that has probably kept them from contamination!

Lets hope this will clear up soon! Oh and any tips you all might have on cleaning would be greatly appreciated!

No worries Julia... I'm a nurse... it takes a lot more than poop talk to get me going :) Thanks for the tips!

Always carry a ziploc bag of baby wipes with a little extra water added on your walks. That way you can deal with "muddy pants" right away. And wipe UP, not down. I hope that's not too much information :)

Eww, I'm familiar with that situation.  Yuki ended up with giardia during the first few months we had him.  He had just learned to go potty outside and suddenly we were dealing with diarrhea accidents everywhere in our living room.  And, to top it off, he ended up with another illness right after that (can't remember the name) which tends to follow a giardia infection.  So that was an additional week of runny poops all over!

Poor little Ein.  I hope he gets better soon.  :(
