Ginny got fixed today. I felt so bad this morning as she was trotting off happily behind the vet tech like she was just there to make a new friend, not knowing what is was in store for her. I left her with the vet this morning, and though I felt confident that she would be ok, there was a part of me that still was worried and nervous and praying that everything would go ok. I called at about 3pm and they said she was ok and ready to be picked up. She was so groggy when I got her that I don't think she really recognized me. I carried her to the car and let her lie in the front seat, which she never gets to do and drove her home. When we got back, I put her to bed in her kennel and she slept several hours. I just woke her up just now to take her to go potty and to give her the pain meds the vet gave me. She is laying curled up next to me right now, eyes somewhat open but very lethargic. Her puppy energy has been zapped. Even her ears seem a little droopier. I'm sure the anesthesia isn't 100% worn off yet. I'm trying to be very careful when I pick her up not to hurt her, but she still makes litlle noises like it hurts. It's like watching your own kid, you just hope they're not in pain, but they have no way to tell you whether they are or not. My neighbor downstairs reassured me that in a few days, she'll be as good as new. I'm glad I have the whole weekend to spend with her while she recuperates.

It'll take a couple of days for all of the anesthetic to be out of her system. Before you know it she will be back to her old self and you'll have to figure out how to keep her calm! LOL

Ginny is feeling better this morning. She does have some pain meds and I just gave her one. She's walking around a bit this morning, but still a little sore. She'll be walking around and then act like she's been stung and start licking her belly a little. I'm going to be keeping it very low key this weekend for her. I feel better seeing her more alert this morning.

Hope they sent you home with some pain medication. This is becoming much more common. Yes, they usually feel pretty puny the afternoon of surgery. Do be careful of a few things, absolutely no jumping, no running, do not let her lick/chew at the suture line and most of all check the incision daily for swelling, unusual redness or oozing. You will be amazed at how quickly she feels like her old self.

I know how you feel, but Miss Pan was trying to jump on furniture the day after her spay. They pull through it very quickly!
