Does anyone think its too late to crate train?

Hey everyone, just wanted some advice.
Wyatt has had a bit of a relapse in his potty training. He is almost 11 months and I never crate trained him, but he did well with going potty outside. Until recently he has started peeing inside the house again, and if I take him over my friends house he seems to mark his spot there too.
I work for 8 hours so it is hard for me to think about leaving him in the crate for so long. I dont know what to do.
Is it too late to crate train, he hates his crate, all he does is bark when hes in it.

I think I would elect to confine him to a smaller room before I would immediately resort to the crate. This will be a huge change and probably cause lots of undue stress. I would however start making the crate a part of his life. Feed him in it, give him special treats in it and slowly increase the time he is there. If he is not neutered do so now. When visiting friends make sure you give him the opportunity to eliminate before bringing him inside. When bringing him in keep him on lead for the beginning of his visit so you can easily correct his seeking out the place to mark. If urinating in the home is a sudden change it may be wise to have a urinalysis done. Males are a bit more difficult to see visual symptoms then females. Males often urinate several times where females usually finish in one session.

No, it is not too late to crate train. you will need to make his crate a pleasant experience, begin with only a few minutes, slowly increase your time, make sure the crate is comfortable with food and toys. At his age, he should be able to hold for 8 hours without a sweat. Remember that dogs are den animals.

Is he neutered?? If not, this may be marking behavior. If he was neutered after he started the whole leg-lifting thing, it may be marking behavior. However, if it's really a peeing problem, retraining with the crate is a great idea.
