I've been trying to think of ways to get Leon out and more thoroughly active at night. Walks just aren't enough to wear him out with all the things he gets distracted by, and then with the added problem of I can't see what he's deciding he wants to nom on. For the most part when we're out walking around he'll stay away from the bad or dangerous things, ciggarette butts, other dog poop and the like, but every so often he'll find something he shouldn't have. One of the last times it was a disgarded candy bar someone threw in the bushes. Almost died at that one when I realized what was going on and why he wouldn't come out from underneath. Anyway, on one of our walks a couple nights ago I happened to notice the basketball court, and after a quick walk around it to make sure that there were no holes in the fencing, I decided that might be a good place to go on days that we don't go out for walks with my mom. I can take him in there close the fence so he can't escape and throw a ball around for him. Nice idea in theory, but I still have to test it out.

Yesterday my mom and I took the dogs out to see if there were any off-leash parks here in kent. She thought that there used to be one, but apparently not. That bummed me out a lot. Kent has everything, in it's gigantic effort to be the next seattle or tacoma, except for a dog park. Why!? :'( With how few and far between dog parks seem to be around here it's no wonder that no one obeys the leash laws. Instead we ended up walking down the trail near the dispatch center and then going back to my parents house to get some ice cream and let leon rest. He picked up a stick, about twice his length and was carrying it around with him. Hiliarious sight so we brought it home for him to chew on and de-bark all over the carpet. My mom tried to get a picture of it, not sure how well it turned out, and I've asked her to email it to me. Yesterday afternoon we also went to the apartment office to leave my complaint about the guy who's dog tried to attack leon. Hadn't done it before because of my SAD. But I sucked it in, told leon it was time to do his job and walked in. He did very well keeping me from having a panic attack. Explained to the person in the office what happened and that I've seen him around without the leash a lot since then and she told me that she's gotten lots of complaints about him before and told me that at the end of june everyone will be living on-site so it will be easier for them to keep their eyes out for him.

And today we've found out for sure that mr. dorkmaster is afraid of the vaccum. I haven't had him around it before, normally I'll stick him upstairs so he won't get upset. Today he was laying down in front of the front door and I didn't want to disturb him so I just did it and he moved himself. All the way upstairs to under layton's bed. As far aways as he could get. You could tell he wasn't happy but with the stick he picked up last night I had to do a quick once-over. There was bark strips all over the floor.
