Leon's Birthday!

Well, leon is now one people year old, which translates into 10 doggie years. :) Thanks to everyone who has given happy birthdays. And our day was eventful enough. He had me up at 7:30 in the morning and at 11:30 we drove up to the southcenter mall area with james so that I could get 'The Graveyard Book' from B&N, and went to petco after so james could get him some toys and treats. Leon was dragging me all over everywhere and I was just about having trouble keeping up and from falling over… Continue

A different kind of stumpy

From - dailymail.co.uk

The message to the fire brigade is always the same: Come quickly, a poor little pony has got stuck in the mud.

Four times rescuers have raced to the banks of the River Test to help the stricken animal – only to see her happily trot away.

Not sinking, just… Continue

An update to my previous post

Susan, and Dir & Nala had asked.

The appointment ended up going as well as could be expected, but also as expected, getting a sitter for leon ended up being the best thing. I'm glad I was able to, even if it was absolute last minute. Leon was picked up, and we left to the first stop for my appointment at 11:30a. The first bus ended up being late so we, james and I, didn't actually get to leave until almost 12:30p. It took us almost two hours to get up to where the clinic was and… Continue

Life sucks.

Murphys law dictates that anything that can possibly go wrong, will. And of course, it will always go wrong at the most awesome of times.

I have a extremely important doctors appointment tomorrow at 2:40 all the way up in seattle, off broadway. I need to be there an hour early, minimum, it will probably take an hour to get there, and I don't know how long it will last, or how long it will take to get home. And everything has been going wrong since I made that appointment on friday. I… Continue

Leon found a cat named socks. Closer to kitten actually. Socks took a liking to leon and followed us home. I was afraid that something was going to happen to him on the way back, like getting hit by a car, or that I wouldn't be able to get him to the house and he would get lost or hurt. And then when we were almost home socks walked on some really thin ice, it's just barely freezing here, I heard cracking, flipped out a little inside and then he fell through. It scared the shit out of me. He… Continue

Peanut butter!

This is awesome.

I have issues with giving leon anything other than all natural peanut butter. Can't stand the idea of all those crappy and unnessicary preservatives going into him. Organic peanut butter is so expensive though, so as much as he loves it, he's only able to have it on very rare occasions. Maybe it wouldn't be so rare though if I was able to get that, and I know it would more than pay for it's self… Continue

Leon and the snow.

It's snowing outside right now. First snow of the season. I was fully convinced we wouldn't get any snow over here kent/auburn before christmas. Way to prove me wrong mother nature. :) Yesterday we got slush up on the hill at my mom's house and flooding down here at mine. It's funny how we're less than half a mile apart and yet the winter weather is so desperately different. This is leon's first snow. It had just barely started when we first started out on our first walk of the night. He got to… Continue

It's been awhile

Leon is doing peachy. As peachy as the little dork can be anyway. :) He's decided he hates car wipers and loves sticking his head out the window. What is it with dogs and windows? Whatever. He always looks so blissful and happy. I've made jokes to my mom that he needs a little side car so that he won't try and wiggle himself all the way out of the window when she's driving. She thinks he needs a little red baron hat. I only let him get about half-way, and that's on the slower ends of the trips… Continue

Furminator VS. ShedEnder

Up at Fred Meyer the other day I found Furminators on sale. It was only 5 dollars off, but I couldn't leave without one. I was amazed by it when I got home brushing both Leon and Simon. Expected it, but it still hella surprised me all the same. My mom has a ShedEnder, I've seen it at work as well as used it myself. I think that's what caused the shock. The Furminator worked so much better! Not to mention that it comes in more than one size, so if you have a animal bigger than a cat, you don't… Continue

She said Corgi and that got my attention.

Hi Everyone,

For starters, I want to say "hi" to all of my new myspace friends! Obviously you came to my page because you are animal lovers too, like me.

So I just wanted to say "hello" and that I am happy you joined me here! :-)

I also am sending out this bulletin because I really need everyone's help. As many of you know, about a year ago, I started "New Dawn Pet Rescue". Through New Dawn, I go to the Los Angeles city animal shelters, and I rescue dogs that…

One week later...

Leon has been doing great since his emergency surgery to get that damn evil needle out. Every day he heals up a little bit more and every day I worry a little bit less. The way he is, you would never know he had surgery unless he rolled over and showed you his tummy. Been running around like nothing happened. Just a little bit calmer when indoors since he was also neutered. I hate decisions like that when they have to be made spur of the moment, still don't regret it though.

Leon got… Continue

Emergency Surgery

Leon had to go in for surgery early this morning. I'm at my wits end with everything that has been happening around me, but that's a completely different story. He somehow got ahold of and swallowed a sewing needle, with some thread attached. Another strike against carpet. When I get a house, it's damn well going to have wood or tile flooring. As soon as the x-ray was shown to me, before he even said a word, I knew exactly what it was and started bawling. That was one of my worst nightmares,… Continue

I can imagine these tips would also be good for during thunderstorms or any other day that may have fireworks or such going off.

Independence Day cepebrations can be great fun for humans, but the noise and visual stimulation can be traumatic for a dog. By following a few precautions and being aware, you and your dog can have a safe and happy holiday experience. Following are some Independence Day pointers to protect your dog and keep it… Continue

More activities are in order.

I've been trying to think of ways to get Leon out and more thoroughly active at night. Walks just aren't enough to wear him out with all the things he gets distracted by, and then with the added problem of I can't see what he's deciding he wants to nom on. For the most part when we're out walking around he'll stay away from the bad or dangerous things, ciggarette butts, other dog poop and the like, but every so often he'll find something he shouldn't have. One of the last times it was a… Continue

No more floppy!

Well, for 4 days now leon's ear has stopped being a floppy. It's now happily standing straight up now with absolutely no falling. I wonder why it chose right after the accident to do that... Hmm. Doesn't matter.

I'd been conflicted for a little while about it. Like, I wanted him to have a floppy ear, because it was unique and cute, but at the same time I was secretly wishing that it would stand up and he would have a normal corgi look. I wasn't going to intentionally make it do… Continue

I keep hoping things will slow down a tiny bit, but it just keeps getting more stressful.

Reesee got hit by a car today. Melissa probably won't understand, I've been hysterical and my mom is taking the blame and telling me not to talk to her about it. I'll do it, but I will not feel good about it because it was all my fault and melissa is nothing but a stupid bitch. She is jinxed. No one in the house wanted her dog to stay there and melissa has been nothing but problems for the entire house since moving in. That's the way it's always been. She's stupid and doesn't care about anyones… Continue

Well it seems to have been detrimental. How sad.

Yesterday while I was out walking with Leon some f*ing asshat's dog, who he either didn't bother to put a lead on or took off when he was out of the actual apartment complex, ran up and tried to attack him. It was a very scary experience for the both of us and was horribly angering for James when I got Leon back home. What made it so angering was the fact that the entire thing could have been prevented. We are in an apartment complex and have no areas around where a dog's lead could or should… Continue
