Hi All,
My husband (Kik) joined a while back when we took in Foxie from our son. Everyone was very helpful with the issues that he had and I wanted to say "Thanks" again. He hasn't had much spare time, so I wanted to come on board for him.
Foxie is on the tiny side, she has now topped the scales at 11.5 pounds, is 9 inches tall and 21 inches long. She is now caught up with all her veterinary needs including being spayed, which she came through like a champ. One of the Vet Techs where we take Foxie told me during our last visit that she has never liked small dogs, but Foxie has changed that; she has even told her friends all about Foxie and how sweet she is.
Foxie had some issues with crate training and peed when we would leave her, thankfully it was not a medical condition, but turned out to be a slight case of separation anxiety. A couple weeks ago, when we felt she mastered crate training, we graduated to leaving her out during the day when we go to work. Her crate is now her "room" that she can go into whenever she wants to, but she has free roam of most of the 1st floor. We leave a TV or radio on when we leave still, but there have been no accidents in the house.
She is a small dog with a big personality. Sometimes I think her main joy is pleasing us. We have been concentrating on teaching and training the basics, because that was the area neglected when she was a puppy. Now we are starting to work on the fun stuff. She loves to play fetch and will retrieve objects by name such as ball, bone, rope and toy. She will come and sit on command, but "stay" is a little hard for her because she wants to be as near to us as possible...we're working on it though.
All in all, while she was not a planned addition to the family, and at first we didn't even know if it would be permanent, we are all very happy to have her and hope that she is happy too.
