So Puki got spayed this morning....poor little thing, hates the cone around her head! I can only imagine how it feels to wake and have some giant plastic cone around my head! The surgery went fine and her blood work showed she was a healthy little puppy. When we first took her home all she did was walk over to the front door and whine, we think that she thought if she went out the door again that somehow the magic plastic cone would disappear! But eventually she stopped that tactic and either tried to take it off herself with her paws or gave us those sad puppy dog eyes to make it go away. Gosh, I feel so bad for her but I know I have to keep it on her or else she will def. try to lick/scratch her incision and that is def. a no-no! Even though Puki isn't her hyper active self, I know she is recovering well because she totally inhaled her food when dinner time rolled around. So no nausea or vomitting for her!

Well I just hope she recovers quickly so she can go back to jumping on the couches and licking our faces. But I really think that cone will come in handy when I try to cut her toe nails or something. lol.

Ah...the e-collar. I hope that Puki starts feeling better soon! We had both our pups in e-collars at the same time, I know that they didn't enjoy it.

How's Puki doing this morning? I'm sure it's not fun for her to have that cone on! My friend's dog who had a cone kept running into the door frame because she didn't compensate for the extra width of the cone....hehehe.
I like your idea of using the cone for when it's time to clip the nails.

Poor Ms Puki! I guess there is a reason the expression "puppy dog eyes" exists. Glad to here She is recovering nicely!

I guess Puki is dif. because she totally twists her body and licks at her "stuff" all the time, so since she does that I know she will try to lick at her incision. The vet specifically told us to have the elizabethan collar on her because if excessively licking does occur, the wound would become infected which leads to delayed healing or it can even open up :( .

Hmm.. When I had Didi spayed she didn't need a cone at all, she never licked or nibbled at her incision. Have you tried her without it?
