For a 17-pound Corgi, Cam can really get herself into some "situations".
Last night, we went to a friend's house for dinner. Cam came with us. Our friend, Joe, came by with his Pomeranian, Jake, who proceeded to crack us up with his behavior.
Jake is your typical Pomeranian. High-strung, yappy, fluffy, small. Camber is your atypical Corgi. Quiet, solitary, intolerant of the excitable pooches. Mix those together and its a recipe for disaster. Well, not disaster. Actually, what happened was quite hilarious.
So, Camber is finishing her heat cycle. Jake has been fixed, but he was still interested in her scent. Camber, on the other hand, wouldn't stoop as to make friends in that special doggy way (if you catch my drift). Jake in the meantime had been yapping away, running around, and ate all of Camber's kibble. We were sitting on the deck and I was feeding Cam bits of lamb because she hadn't eaten (see above). Jake decided that he had had enough of her playing hard to get. So, he started harassing her--sniffing her all over, trying to mount her, barking at her. All that earned him was an attempted nip. And, when all that dancing around didn't work, Jake backed up, turned around, and backed his butt into her face. But, he missed and ended up rubbing himself along her side.
People, I can't make this stuff up. I'm still laughing about it today. Poor Camber...
