It's been a really long time since I posted, but could use some help.
This past weekend, Camber had difficulty walking. It started when I looked over to where she was sitting and it looked like she was having some sort of spasm. I went over, touched her, and it felt like all her muscles were quivering. I stood her up and she sort of just quivered then collapsed on the ground. I put her on the kitchen table and started rubbing her legs and back and she didn't flinch or yelp or…

Hi,
So, I took Cam out for her walk today, and she stepped in gum. I took off a large wad of it on the street, but couldn't get the rest off at home. It's stuck to her paw pad. I tried icing it and the snipping it away with small scissors, but couldn't manage to get the rest off.
I know that gum is toxic to dogs, but can anyone recommend how to get the rest of it off?
Thanks!

Here's the dilemma. Mo and I want to bring another dog into our family. We've been doing our research and have been establishing contacts and all that stuff. However, I worry that Cam may not acclimate to another dog.
The confusing issue is that Cam came from a house with 7 other dogs, yet when she meets another dog on the street, she could care less. We already know that our new dog must have a calm demeanor, so puppies are out. We want an older dog. Part of the reason is that we…

Alright. It must be a conspiracy. So, Moses, Camber, and I are watching the Dog Show on Animal Planet tonight and I'm quite upset. Now, all dogs are wonderful. They are all special. But. why hasn't a corgi won one of these dog shows? Now, if a corgi has won, well, that's great. Please let me know. But, we watch these dog shows almost every time they come on and corgi's never even place.
Know what won in the category the corgi was in (not a breed category)??
A…

Hi, everyone!
It has been a very long time since I last posted. I have missed you all!
Things have been going well with us and Camber. She has been loving the snow lately, but definitely has a time limit in the white stuff. Moses and I have been considering training Cam for agility. There are kits that you can buy and set up in the backyard. I think she'd really like it. Time to focus all that FRAP-ping, right?
Other than that, all has been well. Looking into…

Well, 2008 is nearly behind us.Moses and I will be ringing in the new year from Mexico. Camber is not with us. She´s staying with my mom and sister. Although I love Mexico, I am really missing my little lovey-face. According to my sister, Cam has been doing very well, compared with her last stay with them. She´s chilling on the bed with my mom, making friends with Fred, the cat, and is learning that despite the snow that may be on the ground, she still needs to do her business. I pick her up on…

Seasoon's greetings!
Lots of exciting things have been happening here. Everyday is a tiny miracle when it comes to Camber's disposition. One thing is that she no longer follows me around the house all the time. Before, I couldn't take a shower without a corgi chilling on the bath mat. She has become more independent and I'm happy about it. (Well, sometimes. I kinda liked her following me around...) She has a new bed which she likes to chill out in. Moses wants her with us all the…

Hi, everyone. I haven't blogged in so long...I feel like a bad friend. I can't access this website at work and by the time I get home, I don't want to look at a computer.
How is everyone? Life here with the Cam-ster is going well. She's been really sweet (like, when is she NOT, right?? I mean, look at that face) and she's so excited to see me when I get home, that all I want to do is play with her. This past week has been really cold in the Northeast, so we've been debating on…

The city of Brighton had a parade yesterday. I have no idea why, but we went down to see it because I love marching bands. We left Cam at home. Well, Lo and behold, what do we see walking towards us???
Another tri-colored corgi.
Camber lost her coveted "Only Tri in the neighborhood" crown to Ralph.
Ralph is a handsome little guy. Only 6 months. His coloring was beautiful. Where Camber is dark fur, Ralph is all tawny. Mo and I had fantasies about how darn cute…

Took Camber to the dog park and a pit bull got a little too friendly and she charged and snapped at him. I was just as surprised as the dog. Camber is a proper girl, and really. Does it take that much sniffing to get to know another dog? Didn't think so. The pitty didn't go near her after that. Despite the pitt's attempt to get Biblical with Camber, she really was a sweet dog.
Camber made quite the splash at the dog park. It was a new group of dog's and everyone was oohing and aahing…

Let me just preface this by saying that I was a nanny for 2 years. I am a teacher. I love kids. But, I really didn't like these 3 little girls at the dog park yesterday.
First off, they were unattended. Their adult was in the vicinity, but wasn't paying attention. Well, these little girls were trying to pet every dog in the area. There were a variety of dogs there and they were all playing with each other. They seemed to want to do nothing with human babies. So, here come Cam and I.…

Here we are, with the second week of August behind us, and I'm getting ready to go back to work. Camber and I have been spending loads of quality time together and I just realized how much I was going to miss her come September. Being a teacher has its time advantages and Cam and I would hang out on the couch or in the backyard...she's going to miss me.
I've had to meet at the school these last couple of days, so I'm getting her used to the idea that I won't be around as much. But,…

Last night, the world was treated to and amazed by the stunning opening ceremonies in Beijing. To say that I was impressed is an understatement. Especially at the end, when they lit the torch...
Camber, as usual, slept through most of it. However, I consider that OK in my book because we had it on surround sound and the volume turned up really high and I thought that the fireworks would send her running to the other room. It didn't. Which is a testament to the fact that she was…

For a 17-pound Corgi, Cam can really get herself into some "situations".
Last night, we went to a friend's house for dinner. Cam came with us. Our friend, Joe, came by with his Pomeranian, Jake, who proceeded to crack us up with his behavior.
Jake is your typical Pomeranian. High-strung, yappy, fluffy, small. Camber is your atypical Corgi. Quiet, solitary, intolerant of the excitable pooches. Mix those together and its a recipe for disaster. Well, not disaster. Actually,…

Camber can be strange, sometimes.
The other day, I was in the kitchen, doing kitchen-y things, talking with my BF, Moses, about whatever, and Cam comes in, walks towards me, and as she's walking past my legs, she licked me twice and kept going. It was a drive-by lick.
Weird little dog...

I don't need to quantify how much in love we all are with our corgi's, but Camber did something yesterday that pushed her cuteness into the stratosphere.
First off, Cam has only barked only 3 times. I've been told that we are lucky. She does the sort of "huffing" thing when we play outside, but never any full-on yapping. Well, yesterday morning, we were puttering around, doing our morning thing, and I decided to give Cam a little treat and put her on the bed. Well, I did (and here's…

An interesting thing happened to us when I brought Camber to the groomers to have her nails trimmed and she totally freaked out. It was out of her character, all that twisting around trying to get away. The groomer had to put a muzzle on her. She's never had a muzzle on since we got her and it was distressing. Too much drama for a Monday!
