I don't need to quantify how much in love we all are with our corgi's, but Camber did something yesterday that pushed her cuteness into the stratosphere.

First off, Cam has only barked only 3 times. I've been told that we are lucky. She does the sort of "huffing" thing when we play outside, but never any full-on yapping. Well, yesterday morning, we were puttering around, doing our morning thing, and I decided to give Cam a little treat and put her on the bed. Well, I did (and here's the cute part), she took two steps across the duvet, AND BARKED!! It was only once, and kind of squeaky, but it was a bark. She had this look on her face, like, "Why'd you put me on the bed? Are you nuts?" and jumped off. I was so happy.

Since rescuing her, it concerns me that she's not very vocal. Yes, yes, I know. We're lucky. But, I've always thought that dogs should bark--at appropriate times. She's too quiet and it concerns me that it's a product of the mishandling of her previous owner.

Maybe I'm obsessing a bit. She's otherwise nearly perfect and is my little shadow. In fact, after she barked, the look on my face (shock) must've mad an impression because for the rest of the day, she remained closer to me than before. I would look down and she'd be there between my feet.

She's been showing definite improvement towards my BF. She goes to him when he calls her now and she's his best friend when he feeds her lamb (her favorite). She's also become more expressive, letting me know with her body language what she needs. It's very encouraging and I thank God every day that she's in our life.

Glad I could entertain. I accidentally napped for 4 hours.

When Cam and I went for a walk today, we encountered anothe neighborhood Corgi, Hurley. I'm near-sighted, wear glasses, but you could see those ears a mile away! Hurley was a handsome little man--Cam approved, but was playing coy. He is the second Corgi we've seen. We were told of his presence from Yoshi, the Pomeranian at the dog park. Apparently, there's another Corgi, Fatty, but I haven't confirmed his existence, and we haven't seen Rio in some time.

I think the general public are on to Corgi's. Soon, we'll see a whole bunch of them around, like those knock-off designer handbags. Well, at least you can't fake a Corgi...

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I was taking a nap.

I think that she must've been "encourage" not to bark with her previous owner--in a bad way. Her previous owner, a woman, bought Cam for her son. But, she ended up with her. I'm thinking that there must've been abuse because she was in a house full of dogs who barked. Or maybe she'll talk when she has something to say. Each day is a little miracle. Trust and respect and love are what we're all about here, so everything else is a bonus.

Le-Le does not bark much if ever. I know what you mean that barking would be nice once in awhile. I am used to a vocal dog since my beagle Buster barked or whined at me all the time to let me know what he wanted plus my parents PWC, Punch barks a lot. Almost too much if that is possible. Everyone tells me we are lucky and I know it is good since we travel and she does not bark in hotels or at noises so it is a good thing. I always think it is a happy dog that barks..... I know she can because a few time when she is really happy and excited she will woof out of eye sight of us. We think she is playing with a toy. A couple of times when we are out in the yard, she has given a woof before running madly away from me and going for the fastest run ever in the yard. The first time she barked I was so excited. Her bark is very deep and full not what I expected. I think of it as a great treat when she does bark.

That is so neat that she feels so safe with you all. She is adorable. The barking is cute, and Lily and I have 'discussions' quite often. If I do not answer her fast enough, she gets louder. I am glad that Camber is starting to communicate with you more.

So, she's got some chutzpah, which I love.

Well, considering where she was when we got her and where she is now, she's improved dramatically and I see positive changes every week. I do bark at Camber, in play, and I think that it confuses her and she just runs away. Oh well. I just took her to the dog park and she shows some assertiveness and makes other dogs submissive to her. She did that to a friend's Black Lab, who outweigh's her by 60 pounds, or so. Lindsay tried to muscle her way into Cam's nook and Cam just stood up and sort of charged her way towards Lindsay, who gave Cam the space.

Zed didn't bark much at all when we got him (he's a rescue as well). He's still not a big barker but he does have his growly days, where he growls at every little sound coming from outside. He was also not a fan of me, staying by my wife at all times and looking at me as if to say "why are you still here?". He's learned to tolerate me very well but he'll always be my wife's dog. Your little girl's personality will come out more over time. You just need to give her time. In the mean time, ENJOY!

I had a corgi that never barked until one day I barked at him. It scared him and he ran back into the house. From that day on he barked. His name was Grizzly Adams but when we found out that he did not have a brave bone in his body we just called him Grizz.
