Here's the dilemma. Mo and I want to bring another dog into our family. We've been doing our research and have been establishing contacts and all that stuff. However, I worry that Cam may not acclimate to another dog.
The confusing issue is that Cam came from a house with 7 other dogs, yet when she meets another dog on the street, she could care less. We already know that our new dog must have a calm demeanor, so puppies are out. We want an older dog. Part of the reason is that we think that it will be good for Cam to have a playmate. That she should have another doggie friend. But, is it the best thing for her?
When we go onto petfinder.com, we see dogs that are listed as being in households where they should be the only dogs. I wonder if that's Camber? I would hate to bring in another dog and not have it be the ideal situation for her. We know of a breeder who is looking to place one of her older dogs and we are seriously considering visiting her with Camber and see how they react to one another.
Camber's attitude, if the dog isn't excited, is one of avoidance. She goes to her corner and just lays there. Maybe she will touch noses with another dog, but then goes to her corner. I need some advice. Will Camber adjust because she has no choice? Should we enroll her into doggy day care so that she can learn how to be with other dogs before we adopt again? Any advice would be helpful. Thank you all!
