Alright. It must be a conspiracy. So, Moses, Camber, and I are watching the Dog Show on Animal Planet tonight and I'm quite upset. Now, all dogs are wonderful. They are all special. But. why hasn't a corgi won one of these dog shows? Now, if a corgi has won, well, that's great. Please let me know. But, we watch these dog shows almost every time they come on and corgi's never even place.

Know what won in the category the corgi was in (not a breed category)??

A poodle.

I mean, the poodle ALWAYS wins. Yeah, they're all poofy and majestic and all that stuff. but corgi's kick butt in the personality and just plain cuteness factor.-hands down. Corgi's FRAP--poodles are afraid of messing up their manicures. Corgi's like food--a lot. Poodles-probably have very sensitive tummies and are probably very picky eaters.

OK. Before I get a bunch of responses touting the attributes of the majestic Poodle, let me remind you that this is all in jest. I just wish that Corgi's got their due at these shows, you know? For all of us, our Corgi's always win the blue ribbon. And I hope, by the end of the show, that maybe, just maybe, the corgi will be honored on the podium.

I'll keep my dog show secrets...but I still maintain a poodle conspiracy is afoot...

Update from the Westminster Doggie Show:

You guessed it. Another bleeping poodle won. I'm telling you, people, it's a conspiracy...

Sarah-
I think you've got a point. I'm certainly no dog judge, so I can't tell you what's wrong with a dog unless it's out there--like it's only got 3 legs...probably not the breed standard. I think it's all subjective. But, oh well. What can you do? Camber wins #1 in this house all the time!

As for Best In Show, it would be great if Corgi's won. I thought I saw a statistic that stated that when a particular breed of dog is in a movie or wins a prestigious dog show, their sales go up and, consequently, the chance that a person may not have done their research may cause more dogs to be surrendered at shelters...they didn't know what they were in for. If that's the case, I hope the Corgi's never win. Let them remain on the fringes.

I think sometimes they don't choose the dog they breed because they are being biased, but because they know that breed best and can see faults and conformity more easily than in other breeds.

I love Shiba Inus too! They remind me of little ninjas.

I was glad the Pem won for the herding group last night and the Cardi placed 3rd. Big day for the Corgis! The judge was also a Corgi breeder so I'm sure that helped. That's the problem, if a judge is also a breeder, they choose the dog that's of the same breed 90% of the time which is fine if it is truly the best, but I don't think that's always the case. As far as last night, I think that judge made a great decision. I've seen the Corgis win for their group a few times but I'm still waiting for one of them to win Best in Show. :)

I guess dreams really do come true! I was watching the AKC/Eukanuba show last night and lo, and behold, little Carly won in her group. I guess there really is a Santa Claus... I just think that Corgi's are just so far ahead of all the other dog breeds, that the judges are unable to comprehend the sheer awesomeness our dogs possess. How can they go through life?

Pointer's are cool dogs. I'm just glad a poodle didn't win. The other fun dogs that I was rooting for was the Shiba Inu, the Basenji, and the Pharoah Hound. I just think that those breeds are so cool! My friend has a Shiba Inu, Mishka, and that dog is so crafty. Like, corgi's are smart and they'll just run up to stuff (well, some of them. Little Camber is more "I'm avoiding you"). But, Shiba Inu's are sly, from what I'm told.

I guess the bottom line to this is...

At least a poodle didn't win.

I watched that last night and the Pembroke won in the herding and the Cardigan got 3rd! Although I was disappointed when the Pointer won Best in Show. I thought, for obvious reasons, that the Pemi should have won! LOL

Are you watching the AKC/Eukanuba 08/09? A Pem just won the herding division! Woo hoo! I have been watching these on Saturday mornings and we never win. We just did a dance and toasted a glass of wine to this beautiful breed! Woo Hoo.
