Took Camber to the dog park and a pit bull got a little too friendly and she charged and snapped at him. I was just as surprised as the dog. Camber is a proper girl, and really. Does it take that much sniffing to get to know another dog? Didn't think so. The pitty didn't go near her after that. Despite the pitt's attempt to get Biblical with Camber, she really was a sweet dog.
Camber made quite the splash at the dog park. It was a new group of dog's and everyone was oohing and aahing over her. Hey, they can't help it. And since she was doing so well at the dog park--walking around the other dogs, letting people pet her (HUGE step), obeying me, I felt that it was time to take her to the next level.
The Farmer's Market in Copley Square.
It was a mess. Poor Camber. Talk about sensory overload. She was exhausted. Too many people, too much noise, the constant requests to pet her. Then, there was this guy that walked into her, tripped, and gave me a dirty look. What a loser. This is the second dirty look I've gotten from people who messed up their interaction with MY dog! Camber saw him coming at her, she was on the leash and decided that she'd just crouch down (literally, scared still), and then he walks right into her. I was so scared. Scared and I felt totally selfish in bringing her to the Market because deep down, I knew that she wasn't ready. I didn't think that there'd be that many people there and let me tell you, they were not all aware of their surroundings.
I gave her some extra treats when we got home and lots and lots of love. She and I were sitting on Clarendon St, near Newbury St, waiting for Moses to leave work and it was a quiet spot and nearly everyone who walked by commented on how cute she was. Camber definitely was at more at ease then. I'm hoping that I didn't set her back. I'm sure I haven't, but still...
