The vet says Riley has a rare form of skin cancer and only has a few months to live. He is only 8 years old! I do not accept those words! He has a bunch of sores on his legs and belly. My family is torn apart in tears right now. We prayed over him and believe that there are still miracles and that Riley will be one. He is still full of energy and eating mostly everything in sight. He was starting to have accidents in the house but again I prayed and he hasnt had one since last week when I prayed! Amen! I really believe he will recover! Has anyone heard of Corgi's getting skin cancer?

I have a 9 year old Corgi too. I believe that God answers prayer and heals us and animals. I am praying for Riley and your whole family as you go through this difficult time. Joy and Baby Butter

I will pray for Riley and hopes he over comes this. Corgi's are fighters and have a strong will to live and live for us. This just breaks my heart and at the same time gives all of us awareness that this can happen to our pets too.

I'm so sorry to hear of Riley's diagnosis. Have you done much research on the type of cancer he has? Is it mast cell? One of the things you can do to help him is to eliminate as many carbs from his diet as possible. Cancer cells really need carbs for fuel to grow and by eliminating them from the diet, you can help with growth of the tumors. they recommend diets high in protein and fat. If you google "canine cancer+diet" you'll find several resources regarding diet and care for dogs with cancer.

I hope that Riley is able to spend several more years with you and Timmy and I will put you in our prayers. Please keep us informed of his progress.

Hi again Riley and family. With regards to skin cancer, corgis are not in the top 7 dogs most likely to be susceptible. Two of them are basset hounds, and scottish terriers. Perhaps because these dogs are low to the ground like corgis. Like people, lighter skin also presents more of a risk. And it's not only the direct sunlght, but the indirect rays reflecting off of concrete or light colored pavement,, because unfortunately the ozone layer is not what it used to be. Hope the info helps...prayers for all of you.
