So last night we had a scare with Ofelia. Her incision from her spay a couple of days ago started bleeding pretty badly. So we bandaged her up and took her to the pet emergency clinic (it was 1 in the morning). The doctor said everything was fine. That she probably licked open the skin glue that was holding the skin in place. I was really relieved. I thought she was hemorrhaging. But everything looks fine. The doctor cleaned her up, put some new glue on, and - poor Ofie - put an elizabethan collar on her. You should have see her. In fact, I'm going to take some pictures of it today. I can't take video though because my digital camera takes videos of too high resolution to put on the site. Anyway, it took her a little while, but she figured out that she had to lift her head if she wanted to walk. She looks so miserable. But she doesn't seem traumatized by it, which is good. Just a little unhappy that she's found herself with a weird plastic thing around her head.

I'm glad she's healthy! We are getting our corgi in less than a week (woohoooo!!) so I've never delt with a collar like that. He will probably have it on when he gets neuterd. ( I'm not sure how to spell it, I think it's right!)

yepp and watch out.. those collars are weapons! Bailey had one on for 1 week After surgery, and I got bumped in the back of the leg so many times I lost count. =P

Awwww... I think most parents have to go through this.. Im happy she's ok and it wasn't something serious. (and I wish I know about this other collar) but it was still funny to watch Roxi with hers on.. (Im a bad mother I know)

Just make sure she doesn't figure out her hind legs reach the incision as well like Roxi did.. that's when things get interesting >_/body>

I just wanted to let you know that there is a collar out there called the "pro collar". It looks like a blue innertube that fits around their necks, the nice thing about it is that it prevents them from licking anything on their bodies, but it still allows them to see where they are going, to eat and to sleep. It also doesn't make them bump into the furniture, walls or the backs of your legs. I just thought I'd throw that out there, it might be a good investment if she has to wear it for a while. Kiwi wore hers right after being spayed, and any time she starts excessively licking herself we put it on her. Anyway, good luck! Hope she feels better soon.
