So this last sunday Trini had her babies! She went into labor late in the night. I pretty much stayed awake with her the whole night (yawn!) by the morning it was clear to see that she was having problems. So i called the vet, thank god for weekend service in this small town, and he said to go ahead and bring her in. After giving her a few different medications to try and induce labor he concluded that she was going to have to have s cesarian (c-section) at the whopping price of $700 big ones. I had to take a big gulp as i wrote the check out for that one! But it ended up being a really interesting experience. We got to watch the operation and help with the puppies as he took them out. I guess when you anesethize a dog you do affect the puppies as well, so it took alot of rubbing and shaking to get the little guys moving. Turns out poor trini has been walking around with SEVEN corgi's in her this whole time. No wonder she was so wide! Unfortunatly for her, with all those puppies inside she wasn't able to eat as much as she should so she looked pretty anemic afterwards. Out of the seven five guys survived. And they are the most precious things ever!!!!! There are two tri colors-one male, one female. And three red and whites, two males, one female. We've only named two so far. One of the red and white males which was named the moment i picked him up in a towel and started rubbing him, his name is Yoda. The expression he had on his face was priceless!! His face all wrinkled up with ears sticking out to the side... if he had been green he would have looked just like Yoda from star wars! And the other little Tri-colored girl is named Riley. She is so spunky that her name just fit her right away! She likes to yip (which actually sounds like a cats meow lol) and let you know where she's at... she almost walked right off the vets table while we were tending to her siblings at the office....The rest will be named as they get older and pick their names out.
The next big adventure for these little tykes is going to be getting their tails docked in a few days.....
