Author : Cheez-it

Cheez did really good all day, he met a new person down the street and was pretty excited. She had a well behaved dog in the garage, who sat and stayed (unleashed) when I told her that he hasnt finished his shots. Cheez-it looked like he really wanted to play, but kept some composure. Later in the evening on our last walk of the night, he had a little spout of energy. Naturally he assumed the best way to unwind was by re-verting back to leash-wrestling. (If that were an AKC dog-sport we would be rich). He persisted the entire walk so I cut it short and I THOUGHT (keyword) he finished all his official puppy business. We came inside, and he jolted to my bedroom while I washed my hands for literally 5 seconds. There WOULD be a baby-gate there but I took it down to give him a bath earlier. Oh, he knew what he was going to do as soon as he noticed it was removed. This was a planned escape and it seems he brought some work home for the evening. I didnt go in that room and notice until an hour later when the smell was overpowering the rest of the house...... He left some "work papers" under my office desk, but hell, at least he can sit/shake/lay now. It's a trade off I suppose, but sometimes I think Johnny had better terms with the devil.

Sidney (9 months) like to carry his leash in his mouth too! He does not pull it, but it's like he's saying "hurry up, let's go!"
He must ahve thought we were going on a w-a-l-k yesterday because he pulled his leash out of the box and took it to my daughter. I thought it was so precious!

oo yay competition for leash wrestling.. lol =P you know what worked for us though - i put bailey on the leash in the house. do a couple of loops. if he starts biting/pulling on the leash, i put him in time out. (tie him to something stationary and turn your back on him). Once he sits, or just calms down -try it again. He'll understand that you don't approve/like it when he does that. It's harder outside to discipline them like this - or harder outside to discpline them at all - except when he does this outside i just pick him up and bring him back in (he gets it cause he loves going outside). Bailey eventually got it. He's good most of the time now except sometimes he has the leash in his mouth, head up high, and trots (what a showoff!!), but he isnt pulling it, so i let it be. Lately, he's been really good, maybe its something they just grow out of. =P
