I figured I'd do a little upkeep with this since I found this network. Ever since I began my studies at university, I've fallen in love with Pembroke Welsh Corgis and said that one day I'd have. Fast forward 7 years, two degrees later, a marriage, and our first new home and we are going to have our own little fur baby in about a month or month and a half.

For the past seven years there has been a boarder terrier mix at my family's home and my husband grew up with miniature dachshunds. So, we feel that the corgi is a pretty good mix of what we already know, in a way at least!

We found a reputable breeder through a great and helpful breeder in our home state. We are looking at an hours long drive to pick up our corgi pretty soon. I've have been puppy proofing what I can at this point and buying things weekly for our new addition to the husband/wife family that we currently have. I still don't know which of the puppies I have been being sent pictures of that we will get. The breeder is one who take care to match the temperament and personality of the dog to the owner. Our deposit is paid so we will have one. There are are three tri colors available, 2 females, 1 male and a red and white male (who actually is appearing to be a sable, fluffy (well she didn't tell me fluffy but she did say his very soft coat would be a serious fault in the show ring) who is also available. I'm getting very anxious as I have not talked to the breeder or gotten an pictures in almost 2 weeks now. I know that she is busy with her group in the show ring, but I feel like I will burst if I don't hear from her soon!

So, if anyone has any tips on more puppy proofing I can do or what I should expect for that long drive we'll have to bring either Penelope or Bowser (depending on the sex, since we didn't really have a preference) home, I'm always up for a listen!

Bowser and Penelope are really cute names! Just be sure you have the essentials like crate, collar, leash, the puppies original food, the food you want to switch him too(if any), a plush toy, a rubber squeeky toy, and a ball of some sort. I highly recomment you get a "Kong Stuffins!" My pup adores it. Dont forget the vet appointment! You get one of each genre of toys, so when you get him/her you can see what they prefer, and then it really does become fun shopping for your dog. I like it when I find something that I know he will love, it's almost like your getting yourself something really nice. (Oh yeah, the 8 week puppy collar size is about 8-15". My little guy was exactly 10" at 8wks.)
